Washington Capitals vs Philadelphia Flyers NHL Betting Picks 2017
Capitals at Flyers Betting Preview
Philadelphia is hoping some home cooking can get them back in the playoff race as three of their next four games are at home. It couldn't start with a tougher opponent though as the league-leading Washington Capitals come into town, fresh off two straight losses since returning from their bye week. An angry Caps team looking to get back in the win column is not the ideal situation for Philadelphia and they'll have to bring the best they've got to knock off Washington tonight.
The good news for Flyers fans is the fact that the home team is 2-0 SU in the prior two meetings this year between the two clubs, and Washington's current form - two straight defeats - suggests they could be had. But it's not like the Flyers are playing great hockey either, as they've lost five of their past seven games and look more and more like trade deadline 'sellers'. Philadelphia does own a 10-4 SU record in the past 14 home games vs. Washington, and while some bettors may look at that trend and see plenty of value in the underdog Flyers tonight, rushing to back that side could be detrimental to one's bankroll.
BET WASHINGTON CAPITALS ML | (-150) | SPORTS INTERACTION
While the home side does own a significant edge in this rivalry historically, situationally there is a lot that lines up well for the Caps. They are the ones who are don't simply have playoff hopes, but are gunning to win it all this year and their poor play since returning from their bye week last Saturday is extremely frustrating. Getting in front of pissed off, top tier teams as a bettor will send you to the poor house in rather short order and there's nothing like a game against a hated rival to spur the Caps on to their best effort tonight.
Furthermore, Philly may be back at home, but they've logged a lot of miles over the past week and have struggled on both ends of the ice for the better part of the month. They've scored one or fewer goals in five of their last 10 games and with Washington being one of the highest scoring offences in the NHL (3.34 goals/game) that lack of production just won't get it done. The Flyers are 2-7 SU in their last nine division games and it will be 2-8 SU after tonight.
NHL Betting Picks Tonight | February 22, 2017
Tonight's Washington/Philadelphia game is part of a three-game card in the NHL on Wednesday, with the Caps and Flyers kicking off a primetime double-header. As the entire league gets closer and closer to the trade deadline, bettors should be aware of potential moves being made and not shy away from holding off on wagers until close to puck drop to ensure that all the players they expect to be on the ice actually are.
