Canucks vs Islanders: Playoff Status and NHL Wagering Prices

Following a collapse in Edmonton, New York led 1-0 halfway through the third period before losing 3-1 to the Oilers, New York rolls into Vancouver as the Islanders and Canucks clash for the second and final time this season. The BC Boys won the first meeting 2-1 in a shootout back on January 17 in Brooklyn. Vancouver has won three in row in this series by a combined 9-3 margin.

New York is in a fierce battle for an Eastern Conference playoff spot as they have a one-point lead on Pittsburgh in the race for third in the Metropolitan Division and a four-point lead on Philadelphia in the fight for the final Wild Card position in the East. Slumping in the Pacific Division race, sitting 14 points behind San Jose, Vancouver is eight points out of the Wild Card chase in the West.

Vancouver vs New York: NHL Game Day Preview and Betting Odds Prediction

Backup goaltenders battle as Thomas Greiss (16-6-3 GAA 2.19) faces Jacob Markstrom (9-7-4 GAA 2.57) in the netminders matchup. Greiss is a capable NHL backup and he went 3-0-1 while allowing just seven goals during four starts in February. Markstrom aims to rebound from a pair of brutal outings as he was in net for 5-2 losses to Calgary and Minnesota during his last two starts.

New York sits eighth with 2.78 goals for and ninth with 2.43 goals against per game. Vancouver is rather dismal in both of those categories as they are managing just 2.36 G/PG (27th) while allowing 2.82 GA/PG that ranks 21st overall in the NHL. Playing a “smoke and mirrors” Canucks squad, the Islanders are the better team here. Back New York with the SportsInteraction money line here.
