Blackhawks need to make a move in the NHL Central
No longer the favorite to claim the Stanley Cup, an up and down season currently has Chicago placed third in the Central Division. Looking like top contenders, after a sparkling 15-3-0 mid-November to mid-December run, the Blackhawks have fallen off the pace with a 11-9-3 record over their last 23 games. Chicago followed a lengthy seven game road swing, where they went 4-3-0 but were shutout twice, with a 3-2 shootout loss to the lowly Coyotes at the United Center on Monday night. Chicago outshot Arizona 38-29 in that contest but the loss should be a bit of a wake-up call for the Hawks who will play ten of their next twelve games at home.
Vancouver is one a of few surprisingly solid NHL squads this season
Though they aren't making waves as large as the ones the Predators, Islanders and Flames have generated, Vancouver is in the thick of the Western Conference postseason chase. With games in-hand over the teams they are chasing, the Canucks currently occupy the eighth and final playoff position in the West. The new calendar year has not been kind to Vancouver either as they have stumbled to a 8-9-0 record since the beginning of January. The 'Nucks have gone Jekyll and Hyde over their last eight contests - winning three games by a 13-4 margin, including a 5-0 shutout vs Pittsburgh, but have been outscored 22-7 in five loses. Chicago vs Vancouver Call: We get two slightly stumbling squads, whose fans feel like they are on the Blue Streak roller coaster, in this contest tonight. On paper, Chicago is the better squad, plus they are playoff race savvy and have home ice advantage at what will be a raucous Madhouse on Madison. Despite owning games in hand, the Canucks will be gripping their sticks a little tighter than the Hawks as four teams are breathing down their neck in the West. Bookmakers at SportsInteraction have picked up on Vancouver's highly erratic play as the Hawks are fairly thick home chalk here. Feeling Chicago wins, without a need for overtime, soar with the Hawks and a 300 unit wager on the Regulation Time odds at SportsInteraction.
