UFC 273 Best Betting Picks: Banking On A Massive Underdog

UFC 273 Best Betting Picks: Banking On A Massive Underdog
UFC 272 is history and we move on to UFC 273, which features a big underdog we can't wait to bet. The event is headlined by a pair of championship fights though our underdog is fighting in a featured fight prior to these bouts. We can hit big on UFC 273 as we put together a parlay plus our dog bet that pays nearly 3-1.

Alexander Volkanovski and Aljamain Sterling will be defending their championships but at sharply different lines per their UFC sports betting odds. Volkanovski will be a sizable favourite to turn back Chan Sung Jung a.k.a. the "Korean Zombie" while Sterling is expected to surrender the title to the interim champ and the former champ, Petr Yan in this rematch. But the best betting pick is in the feature bout between Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev...

    UFC 273 Picks & Predictions

We went 1-2 with our UFC 272 best betting picks, as our underdogs could not pull the trigger while Colby Covington easily beat Jorge Masvidal in the main event. This time around, we're flipping the script by rolling a parlay and our big underdog bet...

UFC Featherweight Championship: Alexander Volkanovski (c) (1.22) vs Korean Zombie (4.50)

Money has already started coming in on the champ, Alexander Volkanovski. And why not? Other than his second fight with Max Holloway, Volkanovski (23-1-0) has been flawless and only gets better with each fight. He survived Brian Ortega's submission attempts and soundly beat him.

Volkanovski blends strong wrestling with prolific striking. He lands at a whopping 6.42 significant strikes per minute while absorbing just 3.34 in return. This will be a problem for the Korean Zombie who hasn't been as potent since losing to Ortega who outstruck him over five rounds. If Zombie (17-6-0) can't outstrike Ortega, he has no chance other than a "lucky punch" against the champ.

SBR’s pick — Alex Volkanovski (1.22). While Volkanovski still has value, bet him online as he is being parlayed to oblivion. He should be able to put this fight wherever he wants but will likely keep it at range. While Zombie can still crack, Volkanovski is iron-chinned and should be able to outlast him.

UFC Bantamweight Championship: Aljamain Sterling (c) (4.00) vs Petr Yan (ic) (1.25)

The betting lines mirror how the first fight went: a butt-whooping courtesy of Petr Yan. The former champ was on his way to winning a decision over Aljamain Sterling when he got himself disqualified. Since then Yan's (16-2-0) beaten Cory Sandhagen while Sterling (20-3-0) has rehabbed an injury.

It's hard to see how much better Sterling has made himself since their first bout. Even when he was putting it on Yan, the Russian withstood his best attacks and started taking over as the fight went on. Yan was piecing up Sterling and should do the same here.

SBR’s pick — Petr Yan (1.25). Illegal knees aside, Yan should finish the job against Sterling. He stuffed 16 of Sterling's 17 takedown attempts and was landing the cleaner and harder shots beginning in round 3. This fight could play out similarly or Yan could just dominate Sterling earlier.

Parlay: Volkanovski and Yan at 1.53 on Betonline or from the best sports betting sites in Canada

Welterweight: Gilbert Burns (3.80) vs Khamzat Chimaev (1.29)

This is the moment of truth for Khamzat Chimaev. Should he prove to be "forreal", he should be able to beat Gilbert Burns, who has not lost to anyone in the division outside of the champ, Kamaru Usman. Chimaev (10-0-0) has destroyed everyone the UFC has put in front of him and in four fights, he's been hit just twice. He may indeed be the UFC's greatest prospect since Jon Jones.

But we're not buying it. Not yet and not when the former title challenger is upwards of 3.50. Burns (20-4-0) has world-class Jiu-Jitsu and hits like a truck. He dominated Stephen Thompson, which is something no fighter has done and will look to derail Chimaev.

SBR’s pick — Gilbert Burns (3.80). This is an astounding value on Burns, who should be able to make Chimaev work. Chimaev made short work of his opponents but Burns is a huge step up in competition. We're banking on Burns to mix it up and beat Chimaev. Heck, he may even hurt him and finish him.

Bonus Picks: Rest of UFC 273

We also like Mackenzie Dern to beat Tecia Torres. Dern has the best jiu-jitsu in the division and has improved striking. Torres is solid all-around but not exactly great in anything. Nassourdine Imavov should also be able to outstrike Kelvin Gastelum, It is the Russian's biggest test but he should pass.
