    UFC 257 Best Betting Picks

    UFC 257 Best Betting Picks

UFC 257 odds are out early as we head into the holiday break. This will be the first big UFC event in 2021 and it features an iconic rematch between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor, but at their natural weight class at 155. These strikers have never been in a boring fight and are finishers. Don't blink.

Joining Poirier and McGregor will be flyweight contenders Jessica Eye and Joanne Calderwood, also two strikers. And Canadian Hakeem Dawodu gets a feature spot against Shane Burgos, who is looking to bounce back following his entertaining loss last time.

Since we're publishing this early, expect the UFC 257 card to look different closer to the event. Still, the UFC has announced at least 10 fights so far with great matchmaking pitting rising prospects and action fighters with plenty of upset potentials.

Here are the main UFC 257 betting odds via Betonline:

    UFC 257 Picks & Predictions

Ouch, our UFC 256 picks didn't do so hot. With the draw in the main event, our picks went 0-2-1. But if you faded us, pat yourself on the back as it was a huge night for you. UFC 257's picks also tease some potentially big upsets but we're feeling the chalk here.

Let's check out the main fights:

Lightweight: Dustin Poirier (3.00) vs Conor McGregor (1.43)

What a rematch this will be. McGregor may have trounced Poirier in just over a minute in 2014, but "The Diamond" only became better after that loss. Poirier has only lost once in the last three years and has won five of his last six fights. His only loss was to Khabib Nurmagomedov, who also strangled McGregor.

Poirier packs a lot of firepower and has tightened up his striking since he got knocked out by Michael Johnson. He is also more mature now and won't fall for the same mind games McGregor used on him before. McGregor looked great in beating up Donald Cerrone but has been a lot less active than Poirier.

SBR’s pick — Poirier (3.00). McGregor hits harder and has a better chin. We're picking him, but betting Poirier at these odds. Poirier has become a much better striker and fighter. He's beaten many champions and has cashed big as a dog. Bet on Poirier to overcome the odds.

Women's Strawweight: Jessica Eye (1.95) vs Joanne Calderwood (1.87)

Eye and Calderwood are two of the division's top strikers and could make for a sneaky good matchup. The pick'em here is a bit deceiving as Calderwood is a much better fighter... if she fights to her best, which has been questionable for her throughout her career.

Calderwood has let many bettors down losing as a favourite against Jennifer Maia and Katlyn Chookagian. Eye, on the other hand, has become a money train for underdog bettors cashing on four of her last five dogs as a dog. With this said, Calderwood has mostly just lost against fighters with grappling credentials.

SBR’s pick — Calderwood (1.87). If you want to bank on Eye to cash out as a slight dog, go for it. But be wary because Calderwood's losses have mostly come via grappling, which Eye doesn't do. Eye will box, which would play into the Scotswoman's strengths. Calderwood should get the W here.

Featherweight: Shane Burgos (13-2-0) vs Hakeem Dawodu (2.45)

Two rising featherweights meet in what should be an action-packed fight. Both Burgos and Dawodu love to crack and have been involved in back-and-forth affairs. But Burgos is the favourite for good reason. He can strike and he can grapple and he has fought higher-level competition.

Dawodu is the faster striker so if Burgos tries to outbox him, that's asking for trouble. But Burgos can switch things around more than Dawodu and with more tools, he has more ways to win. We shouldn't count out the Canadian, especially since he seems to get the nod on close decisions.

SBR’s pick — Burgos (1.59). The New Yorker has more ways of winning this fight. His best avenue is to prevent Dawodu from out striking him. Make the fight dirty, switch levels, and keep moving around. Burgos will do these and get a sound decision.

Parlay: instead of betting Burgos straight, try parlaying him with Khalil Rountree Jr. (1.33) to get odds at 2.12. If you're feeling braver than that, add Calderwood for a whopping 3.96 return - nearly 3-1!
