UFC 241 Betting Predictions
We predicted four out of five winners at UFC 240, so you can trust our picks for UFC 241.
Middleweight - Derek Brunson vs Ian Heinisch
Ian Heinisch, nicknamed “The Hurricane”, is looking to extend his winning run to six, and also remain perfect in the Octagon. He’s a mobile fighter that doesn’t take a lot of hits, which is his biggest strength, and he’s also five years younger than his opponent which could be seen as an advantage.
Yet Derek Brunson has a notable power advantage in this matchup, and is always looking to put opponents away early on in the fight. 11 of his 19 victories have ended with a knockout, so it will be interesting to see if he can strike against a very quick-footed Heinisch.
We think The Hurricane will avoid an early strike and win via decision. Go for Ian Heinisch (1.50).
Featherweight - Gabriel Benitez vs Sodiq Yusuff
Gabriel Benitez comes into this fight looking for a third win in a row, although he will face a stern test against Sodiq Yusuff, who is undefeated in the UFC and looking for five consecutive victories.
Benitez is quite the outsider here considering he has a better striking ratio than his opponent. The numbers do show, however, that Yusuff is quite good defensively and can absorb plenty of strikes and still come out on top.
There’s not too much value in Yusuff here, although he is the pick. Go for Sodiq Yusuff (1.26).
Middleweight - Yoel Romero vs Paulo Costa
Paula Costa is putting his perfect record on the line – he has won four without loss in the Octagon and has a 12-0 record overall. He is also a fighter that gets the job done early having never needed a decision to determine a result.
Romero of course will be a huge challenge for Costa. His record of 9-2 is dominant considering both losses came to the current champion, Robert Whittaker, and in fact Romero hasn’t been in action since he narrowly lost in a split-decision to Whittaker in June 2018.
It will be interesting to see how this goes. If Costa is going to win the fight will be over quickly, although if a patient Romero can take the fight past the halfway point, he would be considered the favourite to win. We’re going with patience over power - go for Yoel Romero (1.59).
Welterweight - Anthony Pettis vs Nate Diaz
Nate Diaz returns to the arena for the first time since his back-to-back 2016 fights against Conor McGregor, winning one by submission and losing the second by decision. Meanwhile Anthony Pettis is looking for consecutive wins for the first time since he went on a winning streak between 2011 and 2014, so he too lacks polish.
Both fighters are known for having a ‘decent chin’, so it is unlikely that this one will be over in a hurry. It should be an entertaining bout, and realistically could go either way as the odds suggest. Nate Diaz brings the big name, but Pettis should prevail if the bout goes to a decision as expected.
Go for Anthony Pettis (1.83).
Heavyweight - Daniel Cormier vs Stipe Miocic (main event)
It’s been just over a year since Daniel Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic in the first round, and this rematch has been coming for a long time. Cormier hasn’t lost since UFC 182 in 2015, and his move to the heavyweight division has so far been prosperous.
Miocic hasn’t been in the Octagon since the pair’s last fight, and his age (36) is certainly against him here. It’s hard to see this fight going the distance this time around, although surprisingly the odds are quite close.
It’s hard to go past the champ here, go for Daniel Cormier (1.69).
