Toronto Blue Jays: Now focused on the KC Royals top AL perch
Thanks to their victory last night, coupled with a loss by New York, Toronto now has a four game lead over the Yankees in the AL East and their magic number to win the pennant is down to four. More importantly, the crashing Kansas City Royals lost last night and Toronto is now just one game behind in the race for first in the American League. Don’t forget the AL won the All-Star game in July so Toronto is now battling for home field advantage throughout the 2015 MLB playoffs.
Tampa Bay Rays: Playing better than expected is not good enough in the MLB AL East
Heading into the season with +6600 odds to win the 2015 MLB World Series, Tampa Bay has played better than many forecasted they would. Thanks to a three-game sweep of the AL West leading Houston Astros, the Rays had a winning record (46-45) and trailed the New York Yankees by just 3.5 games at the All- Star break. Hovering around .500 since though, with a 29-34 mark, Tampa Bay is 13.5 games behind the Blue Jays and five games out of the AL Wild Card race.
Toronto vs Tampa Bay MLB Prediction: We get an Ace vs Ace pitchers duel here as LHP David Price (17-5 ERA 2.34) faces RHP Chris Archer (12-12 ERA 2.92) in the battle on the bump today. Price is facing his former, former team for the first time as a Blue Jay after he posted a 0-2 record against the Rays during his short stay in Detroit. Tampa is 8-5 when Archer starts versus Toronto and they had won four straight prior to 4-0 loss to the Blue Jays back on July 19. Liking the Blue Jays bats over the light hitting Rays, we are taking Toronto with a 500 unit bet on the money line odds posted at SportsInteraction.
