St. Louis Cardinals: Continue to occupy the MLB top perch
Althought they have stumbled some recently, St. Louis has wobbled to a 5-8 record in September, the Cardinals still own the best record in the Majors with a 90-54 mark. A normally reliable pitching staff has let the Red Birds down recently as the Cards have been outscored by a 69-43 margin during 13 games this month. Their last two contests have been much better as St. Louis avoided a sweep versus the Reds with a 9-1 win on Sunday and then beat the Brewers 3-1 (F/10) in the opener of this three-game series last night. St. Louis needs to keep winning as the Pittsburgh Pirates are just three games back in the fierce National League Central Division playoff race.
Milwaukee Brewers: Brew Crew's doomed MLB 2015 season is slowly crawling to a close
After posting a 5-17 record during April, Milwaukee’s season was over shortly after it started as the Brewers were eight games back of the Cardinals at that point. The games back number swelled to 16.5 at the end of May and the Brewers current 62-82 mark has Milwaukee 28 games out in the NL Central and the Brew Crew are officially eliminated from the MLB playoff race. Following a hot run (7-1) to open September - the Brewers have reverted back to their losing ways as they are just 2-7 over their last nine games and they have lost four straight contests by a 26-12 combined count.
Milwaukee vs St. Louis MLB Prediction: Give the Cardinals the pitching edge as LHP Jamie Garcia (8-5 ERA 2.33) faces RHP Wily Peralta (5-8 ERA 4.14) in the battle on the bump here. Garcia has been strong versus the Brewers as he has allowed just one run and five hits over 14 innings pitched during two starts this season. Peralta is 0-3 versus the Red Birds this year as he has allowed nine runs over 18 innings pitched. Reluctant to give up runs with a road squad, we are backing St. Louis with a 500 unit wager on the money priced posted on the SportsInteraction betting board.
