Sharks have struggled through a rough season start
San Jose has followed up on their playoff collapse from last season with a rough start to the first quarter of their 2014-15 NHL schedule. November was particularly tough as the Sharks managed just four wins in 13 games last month. Sitting with a 14-11-4 record, San Jose is ninth overall as they are one point behind Los Angeles and Winnipeg who currently own the two Wild Card playoff spots in the very competitive Western Conference. Prior to their stumble in Edmonton the Sharks posted four wins by a combined 18-11 margin, including 6-4 and 7-4 victories over the Ducks and Bruins, so we know they can score in bunches.
Oilers finally get that winning feeling - after an 11 game losing streak
Hey San Jose; A circus is coming to town! Not the Barnum & Bailey type - the Edmonton Oilers circus. There are a ton of big red L's on the Oilers page at one of our trusted research sites and fans are screaming for heads to roll in the Alberta capital. Edmonton (7-15-5) is sitting in last place overall in the NHL (they lose a tiebreaker to Carolina) as they look to win two games in a row for just the third time this season. The Oilers are 2-8 during their last ten trips to the Shark Tank including three straight losses by a combined 13-7 margin. Scoring goals (2.22 GF) and keeping pucks out their own net (3.33 GA) have both been issues for Edmonton.
Oiler vs Sharks Prediction: While we don't believe they are playing possum, the Sharks are a veteran squad that understands the 82-game NHL schedule is a long grind. That said, it doesn't look like any of the Western Conference front-runners are going to fall back so San Jose needs to pick up the pace. Taking our cellar dwelling teams is a must for San Jose over the final two thirds of their season.
