Pittsburgh vs Miami: Pirates Pillaging Continues in South Beach

Pittsburgh vs Miami: Pirates Pillaging Continues in South Beach

Pittsburgh Pirates: Still chasing the Cardinals in the NL Central

Despite posting a solid 16-7 record to date in August, Pittsburgh is still trailing St. Louis by 4.5 games in the ultra-competitive National League Central Division. The Pirates opened the month 5.5 games back of the Cardinals but their winning ways have only chopped one game off the Cardinals lead. Pittsburgh is a lock to earn at least a NL Wild Card berth, as the Buccos are three games up on the Chicago Cubs and a whopping 9.5 games clear of the San Francisco Giants.

Miami Marlins: Fish have flopped as they play out the string in South Beach

On the verge of missing the MLB playoffs for a ninth straight year, Miami is playing out the string on another season to forget in Florida. The Marlins are sporting a dismal 51-76 record as they fight with the Philadelphia Phillies (50-77) in a “battle” for the MLB basement. Miami has lost two of the first three contest in this series – including their 7-2 pummeling by the Pirates last night. During their six meetings this season, Miami has been outscored by a combined 28-14 margin.

Pirates vs Marlins MLB Prediction: We get an ace versus a rookie in the pitchers duel as Pittsburgh RHP Gerrit Cole (14-7 ERA 2.49) faces LHP Justin Nicolino (2-12 ERA 3.77) in the rumble on the rubber tonight. The Marlins have lost and failed to cover the spread in five their six meeting with the Pirates this season and we see that trend continuing here. Back the Buccos with a 500 unit wager on the MLB run line price posted on the betting board at SportsInteraction.
