Pittsburgh vs Cincinnati: Pirates Aim For a Series Win Over the Reds

Pittsburgh vs Cincinnati: Pirates Aim For a Series Win Over the Reds
Rubber match Major League Baseball action is on tap when the Pittsburgh Pirates clash with the Cincinnati Red tonight. The Reds posted a 3-1 win in the series opener prior to the Pirates 7-3 romp last night. First pitch for this MLB National League Central Division duel is slated for 7:10 PM ET on September 9, 2015, at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. Back the Buccos here.

Pittsburgh Pirates: Stumble has the Buccos feeling Chicago heat

Picking an inappropriate time to cool down, the Pirates are just 3-6 over their last nine games. Pittsburgh (82-55) has failed to make up ground on St. Louis (5-5 over their last ten games) in the NL Central Division race as the Cardinals hold a 4.5 game lead in that race. Their stumble has also reduced the Pirates lead in the National Wild Card race to just two games over the Chicago Cubs. Pittsburgh would like to end this nine game road trip with a win prior to heading home for a pair of four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers prior to a showdown versus Cubs.

Cincinnati Reds: Long season of losing is slowly crawling to close in the Queen City

Playing out the string, on what has been a disastrous season, Cincinnati is 57-80 and they are an incredible 29.5 games behind the NL Central leading Cardinals. The Reds are 18-33 since the MLB All-Star break including the 8-21 mark they posted in August. Cincinnati has shown some fight versus Pittsburgh all year long as the Reds lead the season series by a 10-5 count. Cincinnati has won three of the four series, apart from a four-game split, against Pittsburgh this year.

Cincinnati vs Pittsburgh MLB Prediction: LHP A.J. Happ (8-7 ERA 3.90) faces RHP Keyvius Sampson (2-3 ERA 6.68) in the battle on the bump tonight. Happ is on a huge roll as he has allowed just two runs, over 30 innings pitched, during his last five starts which all resulted in Pittsburgh wins. Sampson has had a rough rookie start as he as allowed 24 runs over 31 innings during his eight appearances this year. Back the Buccos with a 500 unit wager on the run line price posted at SportsInteraction. Click the odds image below for instant access to MLB betting at at SIA.
