PGA Championship Odds & Picks 2019 – Tiger On The Prowl

PGA Championship Odds & Picks 2019 – Tiger On The Prowl
The 2019 PGA Championships will feature Tiger Woods firing at full capacity, while the rest of the field attempts to prevent the legend from winning the 16th major of his career. Woods enters the tourney as the favorite, but elite golfers like Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka will provide a stiff challenge. Will Tiger fend off the field to continue his remarkable comeback?

Looking at the field, these are the top three favourites according to the sportsbooks.

  • Rickie Fowler +2000
  • Bryson Dechambeau +2000
  • Jon Rahm +2000

PGA Championship Odds – The Favorites

Tiger Woods +700

Tiger Woods celebrated his comeback Masters victory with a trip to the White House, where the President presented him with the highest civilian honor. He enters the PGA Championship on a roll, anointed as the golf odds favorite to win this tournament by online betting sites

Woods has already earned four PGA Championships during his illustrious career, with his last win during the 2007 campaign. After his 15th major win, Tiger’s chasing Jack Nicklaus again to exceed The Golden Bear’s record of 18 career majors. Now that Woods is healthy, he’ll have a distinct advantage over other elite duffers because of his overwhelming majors experience.

Dustin Johnson +900

Dustin finally fulfilled his immense promise when he won the 2016 U.S. Open. He nearly caught Tiger’s tail during this year’s Masters, finishing tied for second place, only a single shot behind Woods. Johnson pulled off three straight birdies to remain in contention, but fell just short.

Fans of golf betting shouldn’t underestimate Johnson at the PGA Championship. If anything, he should probably be considered the favorite to win, but the popularity of Tiger causes lots of bettors to place money on Woods. This increases the cost of betting on Tiger, which benefits anyone betting on Johnson. Instead of following the pack, consider wagering on Dustin, one of the best PGA Championship picks.

Rory McIlroy +1000

Rory didn’t have a terrific showing at the Masters, unable to keep pace with the leaders to compete on the final day of the tournament. This doesn’t mean that Rory hasn’t played well in 2019. He’s in third place for the FedExCup standings with one win and eight top-tens at ten events, fully capable of performing well all weekend.

McIlroy has captured two PGA Championships, during the 2012 and 2014 events. With a total of four majors under his belt, Rory knows how to deal with performing under pressure, even if he hasn’t picked up a major in a half-decade. Rory doesn’t play his best golf at the Masters, so expect a better performance at this PGA major. He’s a superb wagering selection with excellent PGA Championship odds of +1000.

Brooks Koepka +1000

Koepka’s one of the hottest golfers on the tour, rising to win two straight U.S. Opens in 2017 and 2018, along with the 2018 PGA Championship. His rise to fame was complete with a dominant four stroke win during his first major.

Brooks is ranked eighth in FedExCup standings, winning one tournament and finishing top ten three times in 10 appearances. He was only one stroke away from matching Woods at the Masters, sunk by a horrible double bogey at the twelfth hole before charging back into contention with an eagle. Koepka won’t make the same mistake if he’s contending on the final day at Bethpage Black Course.

Justin Thomas +1200

Thomas qualified for the final round of the Masters, but he didn’t challenge any of the favorites, finishing five shots off the pace. Thomas hasn’t been able to dominate a tournament yet this season, with five top tens and zero wins in 11 appearances.

Justin came out of nowhere to win the 2017 PGA Championship, his first and only majors victory. His putter will need to improve drastically if he expects to repeat as the champ. At the Genesis Open, he fell out of the lead with a four-putt double bogey, including a two-foot miss. This type of inconsistency doesn’t bode well against the most competitive golfers in the world.

Francesco Molinari +1600

Tiger’s fairy tale was almost spoiled by Francesco Molinari, who choked away a two-shot lead in the final round with a couple of disappointing bogeys in the back nine. The crafty Italian dropped to a fifth place tie instead of winning his second major.

Molinari earned his first major at The Open Championship in 2018, and he finished in second place during the 2017 PGA Championship tourney. Expect a strong bounce back effort from Francesco, who has the skill needed to win majors as long as he stays calm down the stretch. He’s one of the best dark horse picks for this competition.

Justin Rose +1600

Rose hasn’t played as much golf as the other duffers in the field, but he managed to snag a big win at the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open along with five top tens in eight appearances. The big South African looks to continue his solid season at the PGA Championship 2019.

Justin won the 2013 U.S. Open for his first major, but hasn’t been able to repeat the feat, finishing second at the Masters in 2015 and 2017, and second at The Open Championship in 2018. His best showing at the PGA Championship was a third place finish in 2012, which makes other favorites a better betting selection according to PGA expert picks.

PGA Championship Odds – The Field

Much of the rest of the field will likely struggle to keep up with the favorites of the tournament. However, if you’re looking for a great longshot opportunity, consider Matt Kuchar. He’s kept busy this season, winning two tournaments and finishing with six top ten results. Matt’s the leader of the FedExCup rankings during the run-up to the PGA Championship.
