Penguins vs Capitals: Pittsburgh and Washington Duel in the District

Washington Capitals: Aim for a season sweep of the Penguins
Facing Pittsburgh for the fourth and final time during the 2014-15 NHL regular season, the Capitals will have their brooms at the ready in the District tonight. The Penguins have been surprising bad versus Washington as the Capitals have posted two shutouts while outscoring Pittsburgh by a 10-1 margin over the first three meetings. After being held off the score sheet in the first contest, despite ten shots on goal, Alex Ovechkin has three goals in the last two games versus the Penguins. The Caps three game winning streak follows a dreadful stretch of eight straight losses to Pittsburgh.
NHL Playoff Race: Pittsburgh’s march of the Penguins is headed in the wrong direction
While perusing the Penguins performance since the start of January, we can’t help but recall that classic scene from Trains, Planes and Automobiles; You’re going the wrong way! Pittsburgh, with a 23-9-5 record, was tied with the Islanders for top spot in the Metropolitan Division as the New Year began. Since then though, Crosby, Malkin & Crew have posted a middling 11-8-4 mark and have fallen five points behind the Islanders. Even the Rangers, who were seven points back on New Year’s Day, have passed Pittsburgh as the Blueshirts are two points up in second place in the Met.
Penguins vs Capitals Call: Washington is coming off a 3-2 loss in Philadelphia on Sunday but the Caps are on a 8-4-0 run this month. Pittsburgh has won two straight, 4-2 vs St. Louis and 4-1 vs Florida, and have posted a 6-4-1 record in February. Being as teams do not fancy being swept in a season series – we expect some Pittsburgh pride will show up in the District tonight. Not liking the the monster puck line price, we will march with the Penguins and place a 300 unit wager on the money line odds posted on the betting board at the SportsInteraction sportsbook.
