Blanton Looks to Secure Second Win with Dodgers
Joe Blanton has struggled since joining the Dodgers in an August waiver trade from the Phillies, going 1-3 with a 6.67 ERA. He finally picked up a win with the Dodgers when he defeated the Rockies on August 29. He allowed 10 hits over 7.1 innings, permitting only three runs to score. Overall, it was only his second win in his last ten starts between the Phillies and the Dodgers. The Dodgers need a win to keep pace with the Giants in the NL West race.
Werner Aiming for Third Straight Strong Start Since Callup
Andrew Werner has made two starts in the Majors for the Padres, going 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA. In both starts he has lasted six innings, giving up just two earned runs and four hits in each start. He has faced the Pirates and the Braves so far in his career. The Padres are starting to get long looks at some of their younger players since they are out of the playoff race. Werner is one of those pitchers who will see extended action in the month of September.
