NHL Playoff Picks Today: Western Conference Finals Game 6
Ducks at Predators Odds
Anaheim and Nashville are coming off a brutally physical Game 5 that the Predators were lucky enough to win. This series has been close throughout and all it takes is for one bounce to go your way to decide a game and the Predators were able to make their own luck late in the 3rd period of Game 5 to grab the 3-2 series lead. Tonight they are hoping to reach their first Stanley Cup Final as a franchise, and they've only lost one game at home this entire playoffs.
The problem for Nashville in that regard is the fact that that one loss at home came the last time they played in this building, and with Anaheim in do-or-die mode, they know the Ducks aren't going to go down without a fight. Anaheim has to feel like a great opportunity slipped through their fingers in Game 5, being at home, and having extraordinary pressure on Nashville just minutes before the deciding goal was scored, but this is also a veteran-laden team that isn't going to dwell on past failures.
This Western Conference Finals series has still yet to see a team win consecutive games, and while that's good news for the Ducks tonight, they are going to have to earn that victory. There is no question that the atmosphere in Nashville will be through the roof this evening, but sometimes pressure like that can work in mischievious ways for a home side, and I'm not ready to crown the Predators as Western Conference Champions yet.ANAHEIM DUCKS ML (+120) PLAY NOW
This play is partly based on value; the +120 line on Anaheim is still a little too high, and partly based on the fact that the Ducks have played much better hockey as a whole this entire playoffs when they are on the road. ANaheim is 6-2 SU in their last eight road games and have the ability to play a bit looser tonight even with their season on the line.
Winning that final game of a series is often the toughest for any team, and when you throw in the fact that Nashville will feel the entire weight of that pressure at home tonight, and the possibility of the franchise playing for it's first ever Stanley Cup, down their best forward in Ryan Johansen, grabbing the plus-money with the Ducks is a no-brainer.
