NHL Playoff Picks Today: Ottawa Senators at NY Rangers

Ottawa Senators vs NY Rangers Game 6

My Team's Next MatchOttawa Senators

The home team has won every game so far in this series, and while that bodes well for the Ottawa Senators should this series reach Game 7, the Sens would prefer that not to even happen. However, Games 3 and 4 were very ugly for Ottawa in a pair of 4-1 losses and they'll have to be much better in every aspect of the game to clinch this series here in New York.

Historically speaking, getting a playoff series to go the full seven games with every home team winning is very rare. So from a general fan perspective, or even as a casual bettor, if you believe the Senators will advance to the Eastern Conference Final, you aren't going to get a better price then you will backing them in Game 6. The Senators are once again big road underdogs (+145) and all the lines for Ottawa home games are in the pick'em range.

From a betting perspective, it can be tough to back the Senators for another game in New York given how horrible they looked in their last two outings there. But Ottawa has been a decent road team all year long and they did win three of four on the road in the first round. In fact, they were in the same position then as they are now - on the road in Game 6 with a chance to clinch - and it was a 3-2 OT win in Game 6 over Boston that brought them to this round.

There is no doubt the Rangers will be a desperate team in this game, but despite their dominance in this series at home, it wasn't too long ago (after Game 3 of the 1st round to be exact) that many were wondering about the Rangers abysmal record at home in the playoffs the past few years. All it takes is one bad bounce, or an early goal by Ottawa for those dark thoughts to start creeping in the Rangers minds again and given the price offered on this game, from that perspective it's hard not to back the Sens.
