NHL Playoff Picks Today: NY Rangers at Ottawa Senators

Ottawa Senators vs NY Rangers Game 5

Ottawa's offense completely dried up in New York as a pair of 4-1 losses have this series deadlocked again. The Senators couldn't get anything that resembled a quality attack for the better part of those two games and are hoping a return home can cure what ails them in that regard. It won't be easy though as New York has to feel like they are in firm control of this series right now and their confidence is through the roof.

The good news for Senators fans coming into Game 4 is the fact that Ottawa did win the first two games of this series in this building, but the bad news is that the Rangers finished the regular season with the best road record in the NHL. New York also has experience in this exact situation in these playoffs as they took Game 5 in Montreal in Round 1 before clinching it in six, and history could very well end up repeating itself if New York can escape with a victory.

However, while the entire betting public won't be shy about piling on the Rangers on the ML in Game 5, this Senators team should still have some fight left in them. If you are a bettor who prefers to go on what you've seen recently, backing Ottawa is a near impossibility, but with the home team 6-0 SU in the last six meetings between the two, I'm not sure how you can't back the Sens today. Ottawa has to play with extreme desperation in this spot as they've got to figure going back to New York down 3-2 would have this series all but over.

Two more wins on home ice would have the Senators moving on to the Conference Finals, and while we are still far away from that being a reality, the path to that goal begins with an Ottawa win in Game 5.
