NHL Metropolitan Division Betting Odds: Penguins vs Islanders

Sidney Crosby & Crew own the Metropolitan Division

Riding a three game winning streak, and winners of six of their last eight games, the Pittsburgh Penguins head to Long Island with a 18-9-1 record and own a seven point lead over the Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference Metropolitan Division. The high flying Penguins have the top two scorers in the NHL as Sidney Crosby has posted 36 points and, thanks to a 25-point scoring spree in November, Evgeni Malkin now has 35 points. Malkin rolling into town is not good news for New York as he has registered six multi-point games in his last eight contests against the Islanders. The Pens +22 goals for/against is the best in the East.

New York Islanders: Long and losing season continues on Long Island

Despite being loaded with young talent, the 2013-14 NHL season is proving to be one to forget for the New York Islanders. Though not the worst team in the Eastern Conference, that distinction belongs to the Buffalo Sabers (14 points) and Florida Panthers (19 points) the Islanders are dead last in the Metropolitan Division with an 8-15-4 record and 20 points. Defense has been a huge issue for New York as they have allowed 93 goals in 27 games. That number is most in the East and it’s the second most in the NHL behind the 95 the Edmonton Oilers have allowed. We don’t like the Islanders chances against the Penguins in this contest.
