Houston Texans vs New England Patriots Preview
Houston has a very tough task ahead of them if they want any hope of becoming the first NFL team to ever play in the Super Bowl in their home stadium. The Texans are 16-point underdogs in New England this week, a place they were earlier this year when they got blown out 27-0 in Week 3. That defeat also came against a Tom Brady-less Patriots team and if the Texans couldn't do much of anything right then, chances are facing the Patriots with one of the all-time great QB's back under center won't produce much different results.
My Team's Next MatchNew England Patriots
A 16-point favourite hasn't been seen since the late 90's and in the three times a spread has been this big since 1985, the results haven't been good for the underdog. Instinctively, grabbing the points with Houston will cross a lot of NFL bettor's minds this week because of the sheer size of it, but in those three cases previously alluded to with favourites of 16 or more, it was the favourite who covered the number each time. That being said, there is understandably some hesitation when deciding whether or not to lay the chalk with New England this week.
If history is any indication, there may actually be a better betting option on this game for bettors to get their money down on.

This play may seem a little contradictory given the Texans were shut out in the first meeting, but there is a good chance we see plenty of points in this game.
The 1994 San Francisco 49ers were -16 or greater favourites twice, and it was the 1998-99 Minnesota Vikings who had a lofty point spread attached to them as well. While the favourites did go 3-0 ATS in those games, more importantly they put up at least 40 points in those wins. Those three games finished with combined scores of 59, 75, and 62 points, meaning should the Patriots follow suit this week, 45 or more points should cash rather easily.
There is no question Tom Brady and the Pats offense are more then capable of hanging 40+ on the Texans, and with their season on the line, Houston won't be afraid to pull out all of the stops and take some chances to score as well. New England's defence could very well let up when the game is well in hand, only strengthening this play's chance of success.

Houston is 4-0 O/U after covering the spread in their last outing, and New England is on a 6-0-1 O/U run in their last seven playoff games during this Divisional round. That run includes part of the Pats 4-0 O/U run in playoff home games as this total is one that should be surpassed by the end of the 3rd quarter. This bet may be one of the best on the board this weekend, but Sports Betting Reviews has all four of the games covered, including the earlier matchup between the Seahawks and Falcons.
