NFL Picks: Packers vs Falcons Odds and Prediction at SportsInteraction
Packers vs Falcons NFC Championships 2017
While there are many NFL bettors who may have expected the Green Bay Packers to get to this point in 2016, there aren't many who thought it would be the Atlanta Falcons opposing them in the NFC Championship. Both teams have used their tremendous offenses to dispatch the rest of the conference and now we've got one of the highest ever totals listed for this game. Will the Packers and Falcons get entangled in another thrilling one-point shootout in the Georgia Dome?
Back on October 30th, 2016, Green Bay made a trip to Atlanta as small three-point underdogs. The game that ensued was a highly entertaining one as there were multiple lead changes and 65 total points scored. Atlanta ended up winning the game with a TD pass by QB Matt Ryan with 31 seconds left and you could argue that that victory helped ensure the Falcons would be the ones playing at home here. Neither side could really slow down the other offense and more of the same is expected in the NFC Championship. Atlanta is laying a few more points at -5, but the total is one of the highest ever for a playoff game at 61.5. Given the likelihood that this could be another game full of lead changes, it's the total I'm looking to attack. Everyone knows both sides can put up points with their MVP candidate QB's, but the team that steps up on defence and forces FG's over touchdowns will be the one that heads to the Super Bowl.

Green Bay has won eight straight games coming into this one and they've put up at least 30 points in their last six. QB Aaron Rodgers is playing the best we've ever seen a QB play during this time of year and he already put up 30+ on the Falcons.
So what has me expecting this being a lower scoring game?
For one, the stakes are much higher this time around with a Super Bowl berth on the line for both sides. Typically, Conference Championship games are filled with so much anxiety for the players that you won't see crisp plays run offensively and drops by receivers can be an issue. Both sides understand that they'll have to convert redzone opportunities into TD's here, but the defences are tired of hearing about how impossible their task is this week and will step up and surprise many. Exotic looks and blitzes will be thrown at the two QB's to break their rhythm and timing, and with the Falcons, despite being a great 'over' team all year, being 2-7 O/U in their last nine at home vs a team with a winning road record is a trend you can't ignore.
With how high the stakes are in this game, getting to 62 or more points will be tough. This game will have plenty of points, but expect it to finish in the mid-to-high 50's.
