NFL 2022 Divisional Round Picks: Will Favorites Continue Dominating?

NFL 2022 Divisional Round Picks: Will Favorites Continue Dominating?
After a relatively boring Super Wild Card weekend, we head to the NFL Divisional Round where the favourites could once again dominate. The chalk went 5-1 last week with the only upset coming by way of San Francisco over Dallas, the closest matchup per the NFL betting odds. Our parlay got snapped before it got started and we went 3-3 as we look to tighter games this week.

Check the latest Super Bowl betting odds and find that the board has stayed relatively the same with one notable adjustment: the San Francisco 49ers have leapfrogged the Cincinnati Bengals thanks to their convincing victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

The Green Bay Packers remain as the favourites to capture the Lombardi Trophy while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have shortened their odds to the point of being ahead of the Los Angeles Rams, who they are facing. The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills are the AFC's favourites and the winner of their matchup this Sunday could decide the conference's representative.

NFL Divisional Round Preview: Favourites Have Ruled

Can the favourites go a perfect 4-0 this weekend? They have dominated the divisional round for the last few playoffs with a 13-3 record in the last four tournaments. This includes a perfect 4-0 in 2019. But with how closely lined the games are this weekend per the NFL betting odds, we wouldn't be stunned if the underdogs broke this trend.

The NFL Divisional Round kicks off on Saturday at 4:30 P.M. ET from TSN.

Cincinnati Bengals (11-7) at Tennessee Titans (12-5)

    • Date/Time: Sat, Jan. 22 - 4:30 P.M. ET
    • Spread: Cincinnati +3.5 (1.90), Tennessee -3.5 (1.92)
    • Moneyline: Cincinnati 2.53, Tennessee 1.55
    • Totals: Over 47 (1.91), Under 47 (1.91)

The Tennessee Titans may be the most overlooked one-seed in the NFL in a while, but that bye week has helped them recover: unstoppable running back Derrick Henry returns. With Henry, the Titans can do what they do best: run the ball hard while focusing on stopping the pass.

Cincinnati has been on fire and has covered their last five spreads. But the Titans are 7-2 at home and are allowing just 5.1 yards per play on top of having forced two or more turnovers in their last three. Joe Burrow and the Bengals' offence will have little room for error as the Titans should run away with this. SBR's Pick - Tennessee -3.5 (1.92).

San Francisco 49ers (11-7) at Green Bay Packers (13-4)

    • Date/Time: Sat, Jan. 22 - 8:15 P.M. ET
    • Spread: San Francisco +6.0 (1.95), Green Bay -6.0 (1.87)
    • Moneyline: San Francisco 3.10, Green Bay 1.39
    • Totals: Over 47.5 (1.91), Under 47.5 (1.91)

A rematch of two years ago, the well-rested Green Bay Packers are this weekend's biggest favourites. With the return of three All-Pro players, Green Bay could be even better. However, San Francisco is peaking and has gone 8-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last ten including winning their last three games as an underdog.

Jimmy Garoppolo is capable enough of leading an offence that features a plethora of weapons. The 49ers are 7-3 on the road and average the second-most yards per play. Green Bay has the top home defence and is unbeaten (8-0). But as with Aaron Rodgers' recent playoff runs, this one is fated to end in disappointment. SBR's Pick - San Francisco (3.10).

Los Angeles Rams (12-6) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (14-4)

    • Date/Time: Sun, Jan. 23 - 3:00 P.M. ET
    • Spread: Los Angeles +3.0 (1.83), Tampa Bay -3.0 (2.00)
    • Moneyline: Los Angeles 2.29, Tampa Bay 1.65
    • Totals: Over 48.0 (1.87), Under 48.0 (1.99)

Another rematch, but one from earlier this season as Tom Brady and the Buccaneers look to exact revenge against the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams beat down the Cardinals and the Buccaneers are ravaged by injuries. But the best sports betting sites, like Bodog, know better than to place Brady as an underdog.

Betting against Brady is usually a recipe for disaster. But the Rams have won three straight road games and have covered five of their last seven spreads. As great as Brady is, he can't win 'em all. SBR's Pick - Los Angeles Rams (2.31).

Buffalo Bills (12-6) at Kansas City Chiefs (13-5)

    • Date/Time: Sun, Jan. 23 - 6:30 P.M. ET
    • Spread: Buffalo +2.0 (1.91), Kansas City -2.0 (1.91)
    • Moneyline: Buffalo 2.13, Kansas City 1.74
    • Totals: Over 55.5 (1.96), Under 55.5 (1.86)

The main event for the weekend is yet another rematch. The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are two juggernauts on a collision course with Buffalo looking to get over Kansas City after the last playoffs' one-sided loss. The Bills put up a perfect and dominating offensive performance against Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

And yet, the Chiefs have nonchalantly returned to top form thanks to a shutdown defence. This unit allows the fifth-fewest points at home and has allowed just 11.7 points since Buffalo took it to them. The Bills are a fun team to support, but they will not be lighting it up like last week. This one will go under despite recent betting trends. SBR's Pick - Under 55.5 (1.86).
