NFL Divisional Playoff Odds 2019 - End Of Patriots Era?

NFL Divisional Round 2019 - Odds & Predictions

Three of four road teams won on wild card weekend, setting up a fierce foursome of fantastic NFL divisional round clashes. Listed as one of the best teams for Super Bowl 2019 odds, the Patriots dynasty may end against a fantastic Chargers squad. The Chiefs, Rams and Saints appear ready to defend their home field against the Colts, Cowboys and Eagles, likely to beat the spread against inferior opponents.

NFL Quick Picks

  • Chiefs -5.5
  • Rams -7.0
  • Chargers +4.5
  • Saints -8.0

Indianapolis Colts (+200) vs Kansas City Chiefs (-250)

Spread – -5.5 Chiefs :: Over/Under 56.5

The last time these clubs met in the NFL playoffs resulted into an instant, 45-44 classic during the AFC wildcard round in 2014. With Patrick Mahomes and Andrew Luck steering the helm of superb attacks, this could turn into the most prolific of all NFL scores in the 2019 post season.

A 5.5 spread for the Chiefs seems small, given Kansas City’s penchant for dismantling defenses. This line will likely grow over the week to a 7-point spread. Some believe that the Colts are positioned well for an upset, but Indianapolis hasn’t faced an excellent team since week five, when they lost to the Patriots.

Try to lock in a lowered spread bet on the Chiefs before popular opinion inflates the cost.

Pick – Chiefs -5.5

Dallas Cowboys (+260) vs Los Angeles Rams (-320)

Spread – -7.0 Rams :: Over/Under 49.5

The Cowboys have been winning ugly since week ten, including a boring, 13-10 victory over the Saints en route to clinching their division. Los Angeles is the exact opposite, winning with explosive offense and a marquee defensive line.

Coach McVay’s had two weeks to prepare for the Dallas defense, which allowed only 20.3 PPG during the regular season. Dallas blunted the Seahawks attack well enough to win, but the Rams will discover and attack every flaw and tendency that tape reveals.

A 7.0 spread for Los Angeles appears like a relatively easy hurdle for the Rams to clear.

Pick – Rams -7.0

Los Angeles Chargers (+170) vs New England Patriots (-200)

Spread – Patriots -4.5 :: Over/Under 47.0

The Chargers will travel to Gillette Stadium as representatives of Los Angeles pigskin for the first time. While playing out of San Diego, the Chargers dropped two playoff matches against Brady in consecutive years. This trend appears ready to grind to a halt.

Los Angeles have been unlucky winners, tied with the Chiefs for best record in the AFC, but forced to play on the road throughout the playoffs as wild card qualifiers. The Chargers boast the sixth best offense, the eighth stingiest defense and victories over the Chiefs and the Steelers on the road. Betting against Belichick and Brady is tough, but the Chargers are perfectly matched against the New England Patriots.

Los Angeles aren't favored by available NFL odds, but they’re likely to lose by three points or less.

Pick – Chargers +4.5

Philadelphia Eagles (+320) vs New Orleans Saints (-420)

Spread – Saints -8.0 :: Over/Under 50.5

Philly hasn’t beaten the Saints in the playoffs since 1993, a trend which will probably persist in 2019. The Eagles barely squeezed into the playoffs due to the horrendous play of the Vikings. Philly won their wild card match against the Bears because of a tipped field goal kick that bounced off the upright and the crossbar.

In contrast, New Orleans were tied with the Rams for best record in the NFL, playing outstanding football most of the season, excepting a puzzling week 13 loss in Dallas. The Saints defense showed the ability to stop opponents, allowing a mere 12.3 PPG between week 10 and 15.

New Orleans won’t repeat a 48-7 walloping, but New Orleans will beat an 8-point spread.

Pick – Saints -8.0
