NFL 2020 Week 8 Betting Picks

NFL 2020 Week 8 Betting Picks

If our NFL week 8 picks are anything as entertaining as week 7's results, then we are in for a wild ride. We made sure to go for the easiest games to pick here (well most of them) so expect plenty of chalk, an upset or two, and at least one potential blockbuster game between contenders. Let's get right down to it.

    NFL picks for Week 8

Fourteen games constitute this week and it's a stacked week so much so we had to leave out some great football games for our week 8 NFL picks.

Here is the full slate of games plus their betting odds, courtesy of SportsInteraction (SIA):

    Buccaneers

     1.20  5.07 Giants

Teams on bye: Cardinals, Texans, Jaguars, Washington

Atlanta Falcons (1-6) at Carolina Panthers (3-4)

    Thursday, 8:20 p.m. ET, FOX

We promise we will not make a choking reference about Atlanta in the two paragraphs we're going to write... but I mean what team loses after scoring a clutch touchdown? Are you serious? And it was against Detroit, a fellow choke city.

Meanwhile, Carolina fought the Saints to a three-point loss and are now 4-3 against the spread. Bank on Atlanta to yet again find a way to lose. Except for this time, it might not be that close.

Pick: Panthers to cover -2.5 (1.91)

New York Jets (0-7) at Kansas City Chiefs (6-1)

    Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS

How high can this line go? The Chiefs, at home, against the worst team this season and possibly since the 0-16 Browns, will be at least a three-touchdown favourite. Come on, man. The Chiefs are 5-2 ATS and have dismantled two respectable teams in Buffalo and Denver, but this is steep.

Kansas City should blow the Jets out all over the map. Even if you factor in KC resting its starters at the start of the fourth, their backups would still tear New York's starters like they were $7.99 five-piece coupons at KFC. Still, don't get reckless here.

Pick: Chiefs to cover -20.5 (2.04)

Tennessee Titans (5-1) at Cincinnati Bengals (1-5-1)

    Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS

Two heartbroken teams clash this week as Tennessee looks to rebound against Cincinnati. The Titans' comeback fell short against the Steelers thanks to running into their ironclad defence. But the Bungles? They couldn't be more opposite.

Cincy has one of the more porous running defences so expect Derrick Henry to return to form after an "off game" against Pittsburgh. Pick the Titans to extend the Bungles' losing streak.

    Pick: Titans to win (1.40)

New England Patriots (2-4) at Buffalo Bills (5-2)

    Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX

The Patriots are unravelling before everyone's eyes as they just pood the proverbial bed in what was one of the worst showings by any Pats team in the Belichick era. And their prize? They get the Bills at home who took care of business against the Jets.

The Niners picked apart the Pats' discombobulated passing attack and the Bills have the defensive personnel to replicate this. Despite Buffalo's history of losing to Belichick, we can make an exception here. Chalk the Bills to beat up on the Pats.

    Pick: Bills to win (1.52)

San Francisco 49ers (4-3) at Seattle Seahawks (5-1)

    Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET, FOX

The best matchup this week pits two Super Bowl contenders and bitter division rivals against each other. And we're siding with the underdogs on this. San Francisco announced it was back by embarrassing the Patriots in their own home. The defence looked monstrous and will need to be on top of their game against the MVP leader, Russell Wilson.

On the flip side, Seattle's defence has looked shaky but has also started getting healthy. If they can match the Niners' intensity and free Wilson to do his thing, it's over. But we're banking on the Niners making this a close one all through the final possession. Seattle ekes this one out but San Francisco covers.

Pick: Niners to cover +3.0 (1.91)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2) at New York Giants (1-6)

    Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN

The Brady Bunch made a huge statement by blowing out the surging Raiders in their own dome. Brady was slinging the rock like an MVP with four passing touchdowns and five overall. He'll get a chance to exact some vengeance on a franchise that has kept two more rings off his fingers.

As for the Giants? Well, they almost beat the Eagles. And Daniel Jones did look decent in some - ah, who are we kidding. Giants suck. Tampa Bay wins in a blowout. Take it to the bank.

Pick: Buccaneers to cover -10.5 (1.91)

    Upset pick of the week

New Orleans Saints (4-2) at Chicago Bears (5-1)

    Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET, ESPN

There's still something quite funky in New Orleans' gumbo and we don't mean funky in a good way. Yeah, the Saints won but they almost didn't despite being 13-point favourites. And now they're going into Chicago as slight faves over a Bears team with a defence that's rolling?

Someone must have switched the lines up because the Bears should be favoured here. Pick Chicago while they're still at plus-money.

    Pick: Bears to win (2.27)

We're almost halfway into the NFL season and save for a few surprises and disappoints, it is as most people predicted. Maybe the pandemic has made football a wee bit more predictable this season. Either way, this makes for a golden time to line up the bets for football's elite teams.
