New England Patriots: Rare Home Dogs Without QB Tom Brady
Despite being without stud QB Tom Brady, who is in the middle of an NFL Emperor Roger Goodell imposed season opening four-game suspension, New England is 2-0 and own their usual position atop the AFC East. The Patriots opened on the road with a 32-21 win over the Cardinals in Arizona prior to posting a 31-24 victory during their home opener against the Miami Dolphins last Sunday.
There was a cost to the Dolphins win as the Patriots lost QB Jimmy Garoppolo to shoulder injury in the second quarter of that contest. Enter the backup to the backup as rookie QB Jacoby Brissett steps in under center. Brissett is an athletic player and he completed six of nine passes for 92 yards and a TD in relief last week. Expect New England to have a workable game plan in place for Brissett.

Houston Texans: First Time as Road Favorites at Gillette Stadium
Opening their season with a 2-0 record, for the fifth time in six seasons, Houston looks to move to 3-0 for just the second time during those winning starts. The Texans have enjoyed early season home cooking as they posted wins over the Chicago Bears (23-14) and Kansas City Chiefs (19-12) in a pair of contests that were played at NRG Stadium – the site of the Super Bowl LI Championship.
If Houston is ever going to win a match at Gillette Stadium – this is a good time to do it. The Texans are 0-3 in Foxborough and all three matches were blowouts as New England outscored Houston by a combined 123-49 margin. The Texans overall mark against the Patriots isn’t much better as they are 1-6 with the lone win (34-27) coming at home during Week 17 of the 2009 NFL season.
