Kings seek second Cup Championship in two years
Following a run from 1967 to 2011 where they won zero Stanley Cups, Los Angeles looks for their second Championship in three years when the Finals open in SoCal on Wednesday. During their first Championship, the Kings plowed through their four series with a 16-4 record. This SoCal Crew has taken an entirely different path this season as their first three series all went the maximum seven games and they have already played 21 games during the 2014 NHL playoffs. Facing a ton of playoff adversity the Kings have Championship stuff.
Nee York Rangers are looking to bring the Cup back to the Big Apple
While the Kings have enjoyed recent Stanley Cup glory, the Rangers are looking to capture their first NHL Championship since they turned the trick 20 years ago with a 4-3 series win over Vancouver back in 1994. New York enters the Finals slightly more rested than Los Angeles as they ended their Eastern Conference Championship with a 4-2 series win over Montreal a week ago. Henrick Lundqvist, who leads postseason goaltenders with a stellar .928 save percentage, is the biggest key to the Cup returning to the Big Apple.
