NCAA Florida State vs Georgia Tech ACC Conference Championship
Seminoles wins may be ugly but FSU keeps rolling
Defending champion Florida State is riding a 28-game winning streak, that dates back to the 2012 season, but the Seminoles are being treated as the Rodney Dangerfield of college football – they don’t get no respect. FSU is 12-0 this season and they are currently ranked 4th behind three teams that all have one loss. That’s what you get though when you play a weak schedule, in a weak conference, and then you don’t blow away your lesser opponents. FSU is overdue for a convincing victory as four of the Seminoles last six games were decided by five points or less. We’re sensing the Champs show up with a chip on their shoulder here.
Yellow Jackets strong finish earns Georgia Tech a title game berth
Georgia Tech sandwiched two mid-season loses between five wins and won the ACC Coastal Division with a 10-2 record. After crushing #19 Clemson 28-6 two weeks ago, GT beat arch rival #9 Georgia 30-24 in OT last weekend to clinch a berth in the ACC Championship game. The Yellow Jackets triple-option offense presents a challenge for FSU as Georgia Tech was fourth in the Nation with an average of 333.8 rush yards per game. GT ran the ball 70 times, gaining 399 yards, and passed just 16 times for 64 yards, in the win over Georgia. The victory was costly though as star WR DeAndre Smelter tore his ACL and is done for the season.
