National Hockey League: 2014-15 NHL Puck Betting Action Begins Tonight

Maple Leafs open as home chalk over the Canadiens

Following a deep run in the NHL postseason this past spring, Montreal is looking for more as they open their season in Toronto. Though a repeat of their 2014 Eastern Conference Final appearance will be a tough act to follow, with Carey Price between the pipes, the Canadiens will be a solid playoff contender again this season. After posting a 38-36-8 (84 points) Toronto finished and nine points out of a playoff spot and 12th overall in a rather weak Eastern Conference. Goaltending will be an issue for the Maple Leafs again this season as their "fire-wagon" style led to 256 goals against last year - fifth worst in the NHL. Take the Habs plus pucks here.

Flames are home underdogs as the Canucks roll in the Stampede City

Say what you want about the 2013-14 Calgary Flames but you can't say that this undermanned crew wasn't gutsy and gritty. The Flames set an NHL record as they played in 49 one-goal games and posted a 25-17-7 record. The number would be higher if not for 13 matches where Calgary (3) or their opponents (10) scored into an empty net. Still trying to recover from their 2011 Stanley Cup meltdown, Vancouver enters the season with a new coach and a lot of new faces. After missing the playoffs for the first time in six years, the Canucks 2014-15 campaign seems to hinge on the Sedin twins ramping up their play and Ryan Miller shutting the door in net. We don't recommend laying pucks and backing Vancouver very often during the 2014-15 season.

NHL Opening Night Parlay Betting Advice: Viewing Montreal as the better team in the Habs vs Leafs battle, and not seeing a whole lot of separation between Vancouver and Calgary, we are going to take the pucks in both of these contests.
