Toronto FC Aim For 2019 MLS Cup Glory

Toronto FC Aim For 2019 MLS Cup Glory

The MLS Cup final is here, and Toronto FC have come from absolutely nowhere to contest their third title game in four seasons. Once again they will face the Seattle Sounders, and we take a look at the latest odds and betting trends for the big showdown.

Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders will contest the 2019 MLS Cup final, which will take place on Sunday November 11th at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

Incredibly, this will be the third time in four seasons that these two teams have faced off in the final. Seattle won the first matchup in 2016, while Toronto capped off a dominant season in 2017.

This will be the first of the three that will be played in Seattle, with both prior finals having been held at BMO Field in Toronto.

Here are the opening odds to win MLS Cup 2019:

Seattle Seahawks 1.44 vs 2.62 Toronto FC

MLS Cup odds 2019 have been available all season long, but it all comes down to one match.

At the beginning of the season you would have seen Toronto FC at odds as high as 31.00 to win the MLS Cup, yet here they are with a chance of winning their second trophy in three seasons.

Here you’ll also find all the latest MLS Cup vegas odds, as well as prop bets including:

MLS Cup Final Preview

Toronto FC enter as outsiders for the final, with Seattle firm favourites to take out the trophy given that they have home field advantage and also managed to defeat the season’s best team in LA FC.

The two sides have only met once this season – way back in April when the Sounders won 3-2 in Seattle

Both sides come into the match with plenty of momentum, and each squad boasts plenty of experience in these types of big games. Both teams were underdogs throughout the playoffs and rose to the challenge despite huge adversity.

So will it be yet another tale of underdog victory in the most important game of the season? Toronto FC has not tasted defeat since August 3rd in the MLS, and winning is a habit, so to see that they are listed as high as 2.62 to lift the trophy is quite remarkable.

MLS Cup Final Prediction

Many are predicting goals in this match considering the form of the strikers for both sides. While Toronto FC’s Jozy Altidore has been missing, Spaniard Alejandro Pozuelo has added a new dimension in a successful debut season in the MLS.

For the Sounders, Peruvian Raul Ruidiaz has starred, and he was the difference against the best team in the league in the conference final. He will be a sure starter on Sunday.

Yet history shows that MLS Cup finals are usually tight affairs and not always an attacking game. The two previous games between these sides finished 0-0 and 2-0, and both were 0-0 at the half. There is more chance that this game will go the same way.

As far as the result goes – well it’s tough to call but you just sense that Toronto FC will be able to back up their incredible run in the postseason with yet another win against the odds.

Go for Toronto FC @ 2.62 to win the MLS Cup 2019

MLS Cup Final Picks

While we think that Toronto FC will lift the trophy, it is not quite as simple to pick the result or the score. Here are our picks for the big match.

Match Result Odds

Remember that all soccer game moneyline odds have three possible results, as it all has to do with the score after 90 minutes. While this game may go to extra-time and eventually penalties to decide a winner, you can still get better odds on each team when you look at the moneyline market. Here are the odds:

Seattle Sounders 1.90
Draw 3.60
Toronto FC 4.00

You can see that TFC are even better value here, paying 4.00 for the win in regulation time.

They have won their last two playoff games on the road in normal time, including against New York City where they won with a 90th minute penalty.

Can the Reds do it again? We think so. Go for Toronto FC (moneyline) @ 4.00.

Both Teams To Score Odds

In both of their previous MLS Cup final meetings, the result has been negative for this market. As you can see below, this result is actually the underdog as the leading sportsbooks are expecting goals.

Both Teams To Score – Yes 1.64
Both Teams To Score – No 2.23

It’s a tough call to make given how free flowing the goals have been in the playoffs so far, but there is a good chance that this game will be low scoring.

Yet we are going to predict this one to finish 2-1, so that means we think that both teams will hit the back of the net in this final.

Correct Score Odds

The favourite in this market is a 1:0 victory to the Sounders (8.52) followed by a 2:0 win (9.71). Our pick of 2:1 to Toronto FC can be obtained for odds of 12.51, which presents incredible value.

This is a tough market, although naturally the high odds make it a worthwhile pick.
