Zach Greinke: Looking to avenge loss in Milwaukee
Despite mounting injuries, particularly those to Hanley Ramirez plus pitchers Hyun-Jin Ryu and Josh Beckett, Los Angeles is still on a serious roll. The Dodgers (70-53) have won seven of their last ten contests and now lead the San Fransisco Giants by 5.5 games in the NL West playoff race. Zack Greinke (12-8 ERA 2.84) is up against his former team (he was a Brewer in 2011/12) for the second time in six days as he looks to avenge a 4-1 loss to the Brew Crew in Milwaukee on August 9, 2014. Greinke is looking to avoid losing three straight for the first time all season and could use some help as the Dodgers have scored one run in his last two starts.
Milwaukee Brewers: Continue to hold the NL Central division lead
Even though they are on a fairly mediocre 8-9 recent run, Milwaukee (67-55) still rules the NL Central roost as they hold a slim two-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals and 2.5 over the Pittsburgh Pirates. None of the three teams are particularly hot right now as they are sporting a combined 16-14 record over their last ten games. The Brewers turn to RPH Jimmy Nelson (2-3 ERA 4.00) who was a hard luck loser after he allowed two runs on eight over six innings to the Dodgers in a 5-1 loss last Sunday. A rookie September call up last season, Nelson has allowed 18 runs (16 earned) and given up 36 hits over 36 innings pitched this season.
