Miami vs Washington: Marlins and Nationals Meet in South Beach

Washington Nationals: NL East leaders feel the Mets heat

Ahead of a huge three-game weekend series in New York, versus the Mets, Washington aims to take two of three in their series against the Marlins. Miami won the opener 4-1 before the Nationals registered a 7-2 win last night. Washington is 5-7 since the All-Star break and their lead over New York is just two games in the NL East. RHP Max Scherzer (10-8 ERA 2.33) has uncharacteristically given up five runs twice this month and Washington has lost four of his five starts in July.  

Miami Marlins: Playing out the string on a losing MLB 2015 season in South Beach

Experiencing a doomed season right out the gate, thanks to a 3-11 start, Miami has begun looking towards MLB 2016. The Marlins are 42-59 and 12 games behind the Nats in the NL East Division. The Marlins are 4-8 since the All-Star break and those numbers include a three-game sweep by the MLB worst 38-64 Philadelphia Phillies. RHP Dan Haren (7-6 ERA 3.51) has given up eight runs, over twelve innings pitched, during his last two starts and he has one win in his last nine outings.

Washington vs Miami MLB Prediction: Despite giving up five runs, Scherzer recorded a victory in the Nationals 7-5 home win over Miami back on May 5.
