Major League Baseball Hits 2012 All-Star Break Halfway Point

American League East – Familiar Favorite Rolls Along

Despite an early season charge by the Baltimore Orioles (they lead the AL East through most of April) the New York Yankees have taken control of the division. Thanks to a 17-5 run during the month of June, the Bronx Bombers are the team to beat in the AL East. Baltimore and Tampa Bay are fighting for a Wild Card position. The Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox are currently battling in the AL East basement.

AL Central Is A Surprisingly Close Three Team Playoff Race

After starting out the season as huge favorites to win the AL Central, the Detroit Tigers have been up and down during the first half of the 2012 MLB campaign. That has left the Indians and White Sox, along with the Tigers, jockeying for first in baseballs closet division. Expect a big second half out of the Motown Cats. Wait until next year seems to be the mantra for the stumbling Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins.

Texas Rangers Battle Los Angeles Angels In The American League West

Over in the AL West, Texas has lead wire to wire to date but – the Angels have closed the cap recently. The American League Champion Rangers have been the best team in baseball over the first half of the season. Los Angeles stumbled of the gate with 9-15 record to open the season, but went on a 22-8 run, from May 22 through June 28, to make it a race in the wild west. It will be another long second half for Oakland and Seattle.
