Who Will Win The 2019 Grey Cup?

Who Will Win The 2019 Grey Cup?

While the favoured Tiger-Cats have certainly surprised nobody by making it to this year's Grey Cup considering their outstanding regular season, their shock opponents are the Blue Bombers.

Winnipeg was at long odds to win against Calgary and Saskatchewan in the playoffs, but managed to win thanks to their excellent defence. Can they go all the way? Here are the preliminary Grey Cup odds 2019:

    Hamilton Tiger-Cats 1.67    2.40 Winnipeg Blue Bombers

These are the head-to-head Grey Cup odds, although as always there are plenty of other ways to bet on the big match, such as:

    • Point Spread Betting
    • Winning Margin Betting
    • Total Points Betting
    • Prop Betting

    Grey Cup 2019 Preview

The wait is finally over, and for one of these teams victory will finally end the wait for Grey Cup success. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have not won the Grey Cup since 1999, failing at the final hurdle twice this century.

Meanwhile, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have suffered for even longer - their last Grey Cup victory was back in 1990. They have been runners up five times since that victory, including once at McMahon Stadium where this year's game will be played.

So, who will break the drought? Well, there's two narratives here. Hamilton won just six regular season games in 2017, and will record one of the biggest turnarounds in CFL history if they can manage to continue their excellent 2019 form and win on Sunday.

A regular season featuring just three losses really does deserve a trophy to cap it all off.

Yet if you think the regular season means anything, then you haven't met the Blue Bombers. Sure, a record of 11-7 isn't too bad, although the side were rightly underdogs coming into the playoffs against defending champions Calgary (12-6), and once again against the Roughriders (13-5).

Winnipeg has put up two fantastic defensive displays, and against the excellent offense of Hamilton it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. Don't forget that the Blue Bombers have Zach Collaros, and he is due for a big performance.

But Hamilton boast eight straight victories coming into this one, and there's no reason why they can't go on and make it nine.

    Grey Cup 2019 Prediction

Hamilton swept the Blue Bombers during the regular season, winning 23-15 in week 7 and 33-13 in week 16. The second fixture was in Winnipeg and shows how devastating the Tiger-Cats can be on their day.

Historically Winnipeg has a better record against Hamilton in Grey Cup matches (5-3), although this stat is hardly relevant considering the last matchup was in 1984. Neither team has a record above .500 at the Grey Cup.

It's hard to go past a dominant Tiger-Cats team that have passed the test against all that have come before them in recent weeks. Our prediction is a Hamilton Tiger-Cats victory.

    Grey Cup 2019 Betting Methods

A $100 bet on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the moneyline market will result in an outlay of $167, or $67 profit. There are plenty of other ways to make money on the game as well.

    Point Spread Betting

    Hamilton Tiger-Cats (-3.0) 1.86    1.95 Winnipeg Blue Bombers (+3.0)

The early line for the spread has been set at just 3.0, meaning that the leading sportsbooks expect a three point victory to the Tiger-Cats. Given their dominance, there is a great chance Hamilton can exceed this winning margin, so we would recommend a bet on Hamilton at -3.0 at odds of around 1.86

    Winning Margin Betting

    Hamilton 1-6 3.40   3.75 Winnipeg 1-6
    Hamilton 7-12 5.50     7.50 Winnipeg 7-12
    Hamilton 13-18 9.00   15.00 Winnipeg 13-18
    Hamilton 19-24 15.00   31.00 Winnipeg 19-24
    Hamilton 25-30 31.00   76.00 Winnipeg 25-30
    Hamilton 31-36 56.00   151.00 Winnipeg 31-56

Speaking of the winning margin, you can also bet on the result based on the team you think will win and six-point windows. The favourite in this market is Hamilton 1-6, although the value pick could be Hamilton 7-12.

    Total Points Betting

    Over 52 Points 1.91    1.91 Under 52 Points

The top sportsbooks are predicting that there will be around 52 total points in this one. While both teams boast a good defensive record during the playoffs, a Grey Cup on neutral ground can always act as a stats-buster. Our prediction is under 52 points, with an approximate score of 27-20 to Hamilton.

    Grey Cup Props Betting

As always, there are opportunities to place props bets on the big game, and they range from the weird to the wacky.

    Gatorade Colour

    Clear / Water      2.75       Lime/Green/Yellow 3.25
    Orange 4.00   Blue 5.00
    Red 6.00     Purple 8.00

Total Songs Played By Keith Urban

    Over 5.5 2.10   1.67 Under 5.5
