Golden State Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers: 2015 NBA Finals Call
Golden State Warriors: Curry & Crew cruised into the playoffs
Following one of the best seasons in NBA history, Golden State is looking to end their magical run with their first Championship since 1975. The Warriors 67-15 regular season record is tied as the fifth best winning percentage (.817) and their 39-2 home mark tied for second best behind the 40-1 Boston Celtics 1985-86 season. Prior to their Game 3 Conference semifinal loss to Memphis, the Warriors last lost at home was a 113-111 OT decision versus the Bulls on January 27, 2015. Golden State has won 26 of the past 27 contests at Oracle Arena. Of the nine teams that posted a .817 or higher win percentage – seven of them have gone on to win the NBA Championship.
Cleveland Cavaliers: LeBron James aims to lead Cleveland out Championhsip drought
Cleveland has not celebrated a pro sports Championship since the Browns won the NFL title in 1964. Prior to that, the Indians claimed the MLB World Series in 1948. The Cavaliers lost 4-0 to the San Antonio Spurs in their only other NBA Finals series appearance during the 2006-07 NBA season. That was King James fourth year with the Cavs during his first go-round in Cleveland. Stumbling out of the NBA starting gate with a 19-20 record – the Cavs went on a 34-9 run to close out the regular season and finished second overall behind Atlanta in the weak Eastern Conference.
Warriors and Cavaliers both steamrolled into 2015 NBA Championship Finals
Cleveland is 12-2 in the playoffs as they sandwiched sweeps of Boston and Atlanta with a 4-2 Conference Semifinal series win over Chicago. Golden State owns a 12-3 postseason mark after they swept New Orleans, took out Memphis 4-2 and then dropped Houston 4-1 to win the West.
