Motor City Cats look to keep recent hot streak rolling
Few teams are hotter than Detroit as the Tigers have posted a 17-6 record over their last 23 games. The Motor City Cats open the MLB second half with a 6.5 game lead over Kansas City in the AL Central. Quietly leading Detroit starters with a 3.04 ERA, while holding hitters to a .210 batting average, RHP Anibal Sanchez heads to the bump for the Tigers tonight. After a rough outing verus Tampa Bay, Sanchez returned to form as he held the Royals to one run in his final start prior to the All-Star break. The Tigers .280 team batting average is second best in the Majors and the Cats swept the Indians in their last series back in the middle of June.
Cleveland Indians: Hot July has kept the Tribe in the MLB playoff race
Following a run that saw Cleveland post an 8-4 record prior to the All-Star break, the Indians have re-entered the MLB postseason picture. Although they are 7.5 games behind Detroit in the AL Central, the Tribe are just 3.5 games out of the Wild Card playoff race. As evident by their 47-47 overall record, it's been been a streaky season in Cleveland. Dominant in his last start, as he pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings and had ten strikeouts versus the Chicago White Sox, RHP Trevor Bauer (3-4 ERA 3.84) heads to the hill for Cleveland tonight.
