Champions League Futures best bets: Bayern plus two dogs

When it comes to Champions League Futures best bets, it's straightforward. It may be boring for fans, but bettors should delight that favourites usually cash. In this light, Bayern Munich remains the best bet to win it all. The German club has shown little weaknesses in this tournament format.

    Champions League winner odds

The Champions League winner odds are like the NBA Finals in terms of betting history. Usually, the winner comes from one of the top three (or top two during the Spanish rivalry) contenders. Although we're taking two underdogs to spice things up (odds via Bodog):

    Bayern Munich — 3.75

Surprise, surprise? Bayern has given us no reason to doubt them. With a payout that is almost 3-1, they are a deserving top choice as Champions League winners. They made it through the group stage easily and a tie with the nigh-indomitable Atlético Madrid was their only non-victory.

Bayern is led by Roberto Lewandowski who continues his onslaught as the world's top goalscorer. Thomas Muller has found new life as a playmaker and Manuel Neuer is a steady fixture in the net. Their defence remains versatile and solid with Canadian star Alphonso Davies a probable starter.

With the rest of the other contenders drawing tough matchups, Bayern gets a winnable date against Lazio. No fancy moves here. Chalk with Bayern and don't think twice.

    Juventus — 13.00

The last time Juventus won the CL was in 1996 when the Internet was just becoming mainstream. They've come close several times losing in the Finals five times and as recently as 2017. But Juventus didn't have a top-three striker of all time during these times.

Although Juventus lacks the star power the frontrunners have, they have a prolific squad that covers their bases in every aspect. Their defence is formidable and Buffon is still good enough to steal a match or two. Long-considered CL underachievers, this could finally be their year. Consider picking them as your underdogs.

    Barcelona — 17.00

Talks of Messi's and Barca's demise are greatly exaggerated. Yes, the all-time great is disgruntled but even without him Barca is a team to respect. Griezmann is a superstar in his own right and Barca still dominated at the group level simply losing a tiebreaker to Juventus. They're easily the best of the runner-ups.

Part of Barca's longshot odds is being matched with PSG in the round of 16. As tough of a matchup as this is, Neymar may not be fully healthy and PSG has always been a team that looks better on paper than on the field. As far as the second-tier contenders go, Barca is at the top of the list and worth a small wager.

Other Champions League Futures bets to consider

Picking the outright winner isn't the only Champions League futures you can bet on. There are a few other futures bets you can consider including the country of the winner and which English team will advance furthest. Our picks are rather straightforward:

Country of winner: Germany — 3.80

If you're backing Bayern, might as well add this side prop to your bet. Although England (2.25) is the favourite thanks to having three realistic champions in Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea. But it's not quantity but quality. Bayern has looked primed to repeat and got a favourable draw.

If you're feeling iffy backing a country with one legitimate representative, Spain or Italy have better odds. The dynamic duo of Barca and Real Madrid shouldn't be counted out while Italy has Juventus. Two of these three clubs feature two of the best strikers in the world while Real Madrid is an all-around stalwart.

Whichever the case, just avoid England at 2.25. Only four English squads have won the CL in the last 20 years.

    Also consider: Spain (4.50) and/or Italy (8.50)

Furthest progressing EPL team: Manchester City — 2.10

This bet speaks for itself. Manchester City got the most favourable matchup in the round of 16 being pitted against the surprising Mönchengladbach. MCFC steamrolled through Group C to the tune of a 5-1-0 record with a tie for the second-best goal differential with Chelsea.

While CFC also looked dominant, they'll have their hands full against Atlético. This sneaky Spanish squad advanced despite scoring only seven goals thanks to the best keeper in the tournament, Jan Oblak. Liverpool must fend off the lively Leipzig who was solid throughout the tournament save for a 5-0 dismantling, which they avenged when it mattered.

MCFC should handle Mönchengladbach while it's possible both CFC and LFC get bounced. City also sports the best team and should outlast its English rivals.

Tip: as you could tell by the table of odds, futures odds differ from book to book. This isn't like the point spread or matchday odds that tend to align. Futures odds aren't updated as quickly and you can find better odds with different books. This is why we recommend signing up for more than one book. Likewise, you can avail of more deposit bonuses—free cash! Sign up and place your bets.
