The 2019/20 Champions League will get underway with matchday 1 on Tuesday, September 17th and will be played all the way through to the final on Saturday, May 30th, 2020. The initial group stage draw has been completed and the world’s top club teams have been split into their groups.
This is had a massive effect on the Champions League Winner Odds – the top 20 chances are listed below:
|Dortmund||33.67||Zenit St Petersburg||167.67|
While Manchester City are the clear favourites according to the Champions League odds, there is some great value available on every one of the top teams, and the odds on Liverpool to win Champions League are paying a very good price. The Champions League is a great tournament and is one of the best for betting on soccer.
So who is going to win it this year? Below we make our picks for all eight groups and also declare who we think will go all the way in 2020. Here you will find:

Group Winner Picks
Two teams from each of the eight groups progress to the knockout stages, and from there the sixteen best clubs lock horns until only two remain in contention for the Champions League final odds. Each group can only have one winner – here are the odds and our predictions.
|Real Madrid||1.80||PSG||2.00||Galatasaray||17.00||Club Brugge||51.00|
It’s a two-horse race in Group A between 13-time winners Real Madrid and French Champions PSG. Neymar wasn’t able to force through a move to either Real or Barcelona, so now he’ll have to show what he can do for the French side, although Madrid have an incredible team boosted by the signing of Eden Hazard.
PSG has a great record in the group stage, and Real Madrid have a history of finishing second, although we are going to stick with the Spanish giants here – Real Madrid are a great pick @ 1.80.
|Bayern Munich||1.57||Tottenham||2.50||Olympiakos||21.00||Red Star Belgrade||51.00|
Not everyone has been impressed with Tottenham Hotspur’s start to the English Premier League season, although much of the form can be attributed to the Christian Eriksen transfer rumours.
Now that the transfer window has closed, expect Spurs to lift in a competition they have done very well in over the last couple of seasons. Munich are a great team, but we think Tottenham can win this group, and they are value outsiders too.
Go for Spurs @ 2.50
|Manchester City||1.14||Atalanta||8.00||Shakhtar Donetsk||12.00||Dinamo Zagreb||51.00|
City struck gold in receiving one of the weaker groups in the tournament. This fact is highlighted by Atalanta being second on the odds list despite making their tournament debut. This will be a stroll for the favourites. Go for City @ 1.14
|Juventus||1.67||Atletico Madrid||2.50||Bayer Leverkusen||11.00||Lokomotiv Moscow||51.00|
Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Juventus should make light work of this group, having beaten Atletico in last year’s competition. Bayer Leverkusen may even sneak into the knockout phase at Atletico’s expense. Go for Juventus @ 1.67.
Defending champions Liverpool should only have to worry about Napoli in Group E, although they should be too strong as long as their starting eleven stays fit for the duration. Go for Liverpool @ 1.44.
|Barcelona||1.40||Borussia Dortmund||4.50||Inter Milan||6.50||Slavia Prague||101.00|
A very tough group sees Inter Milan third on the list despite the fact they would probably qualify from most of the other groups. Barcelona are clear favourites thanks to a certain Lionel Messi, and shouldn’t be too worried about Inter or Dortmund here. Go for Barcelona @ 1.40.
|RB Leipzig||2.75||Lyon||3.25||Benfica||3.75||Zenit St Petersburg||6.00|
This is the group to look at if you want to make some money. All four teams are in with a chance, and it’s surprising to see RB Leipzig at the top of the list considering they have never reached the knockout stage.
We think Benfica have a much better chance here – you simply can’t ignore pedigree when it comes to this tournament. Go for Benfica @ 3.75.
Here’s another group that is very tough to predict. Chelsea are favourites although they really lack star power this season and have a debutant manager (although Frank Lampard has played his fair share of Champions League matches).
Ajax were semi-finalists last season, yet they have lost a few key players from that outstanding side.
We are picking Valencia to be the surprise Group H winner, and they are at fantastic odds (4.00).
Champions League Golden Boot Odds
Lionel Messi is the defending champion, and is unsurprisingly top of the pile again in 2019/20. Here are the top 20 chances:
|Cristiano Ronaldo||6.00||Gabriel Jesus||34.00|
|Sergio Aguero||9.00||Luis Suarez||34.00|
|Mohamed Salah||11.00||Mauro Icardi||34.00|
|Raheem Sterling||13.00||Karim Benzema||41.00|
|Robert Lewandowski||15.00||Edinson Cavani||34.00|
|Kylian Mbappe||15.00||Roberto Firmino||51.00|
|Harry Kane||21.00||Gareth Bale||51.00|
|Sadio Mane||21.00||Jadon Sancho||67.00|
|Antoine Griezmann||26.00||Ousmane Dembele||67.00|
When looking at this market you need to look at the groups and also the likelihood of going deep in the tournament. Lionel Messi faces strong opposition in his group, while Manchester City have arguably the easiest run and are likely to be there in the latter stages once more.
The only concern is squad rotation, but Sergio Aguero is someone who can score plenty of goals against teams of a lower standard. He is our pick at huge odds – $9.00.
Champions League Winner Prediction
Manchester City have been arguably the best team in Europe for the last 18 months and yet haven’t been able to get across the line in the Champions League. They have an easy group and will stroll to the knockout round – the question is whether or not they can actually go all the way.
It’s also incredible that Barcelona has not reached a Champions League final since 2014/15. They are second on the odds list here and it’s never easy to back against this team.
Liverpool appear third, which is the highest they have been pre-tournament for a long time. Can they go back to back?
City won’t win the title if they have to play against Liverpool during the knockout stages, nonetheless, our prediction is for Manchester City to finally win the Champions League. They are likely to face either Barcelona or Juventus in the final.
