Boston Bruins: NHL second half playoff push begins
Riding a seven game point streak, a stretch where they haven't loss in regulation time, Boston is starting to roll as they have worked their way back into the NHL playoff picture. Since an embarrassing 6-2 loss to Columbus back on 27/12/14, the Bruins have posted a 4-0-3 record and they have moved into eighth place overall in the NHL Eastern Conference. Boston is playing well at both ends of the rink as they have allowed just six regulation time goals and have outscored their opponents by a 12-8 count in their last five games.
Tampa Bay Lightning: East leaders are experiencing injury issues
Propped atop the Eastern Conference standings, though just eight points ahead of Boston, Tampa Bay has been bitten by the injury bug. The Lightning will be shorthanded tonight as their leading scorer Tyler Johnson and a top defenceman Victor Headman are both out with lower body injuries. The Bolts sandwiched wins over Ottawa, Montreal and Buffalo, by a 10-5 margin, with blowout losses to Pittsburgh (6-3) and Philadelphia (7-3) to open January. TBL Ben Bishop versus BOS Tuukka Rask is the goaltending matchup for this contest.
Bruins vs Lightning Prediction: Boston has been one of the more difficult teams to get a read on this season but they have been battling hard with points in 12 of their last 14 games. Tampa being shorthanded, and playing back-to-back road games on consecutive nights, moves us to back the Bruins with a 300 unit wager on the Boston money line odds posted on the betting board at the SportsInteraction online sportsbook.
