Montreal @ NY Rangers NHL Preview

The Rangers may be 0-2 SU vs. Montreal this year, but with the playoffs fast approaching and New York looking to move up from the wildcard spot they are currently in, these are the types of games they've got to win. It won't be easy though as Montreal has won four in a row and five of six entering tonight's action and they'd love to start this road trip with a W.

    My Team's Next MatchMontreal Canadiens

Both of the earlier meetings were decided by a single goal, so it's not like Montreal has dominated the Rangers in head-to-head play this year. In terms of points, the Rangers are actually the better team and it's about time they show it to Montreal in person. New York is on a 16-5 SU run after a single day off, 5-1 SU in their last six against teams from the Atlantic, and 6-1 SU when playing a team that gave up two or fewer in their last outing.

If those notes didn't sway you a little to New York's side, then the fact that Montreal's recent swing of victories is partly a by-product of their schedule may. Montreal is just 3-9 SU in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and the +115 underdog odds the Habs have are a little too optimistic in that regard. Tonight's the night the Rangers get that first win over Montreal.

NEW YORK RANGERS ML (-135) BET NOW

Best NHL Bets Tonight | March 4, 2017

Like any Saturday night during the NHL season, there are plenty of games on the betting board for NHL bettors to break down. Backing the Rangers isn't the only strong play out there, as here are a few more for you to seriously consider adding to your card.

    • Colorado Avalanche ML (+195) - Colorado may be bad and two wins over their last 10 games doesn't help matters, but Winnipeg is nowhere near good enough to be laying this kind of price against anyone.
    • Dallas/Florida Over 6 (+100) - Dallas is 2nd worst in goals allowed at 3.23/game and the Panthers aren't too far removed from being absolutely on fire offensively. The first meeting between these non-conference teams finished with 4 goals, but we could easily see double that in the rematch tonight.
    • Detroit/Edmonton Over 5 (-140) - Edmonton's going to have to figure out how to score more goals on the road, but that shouldn't be a problem tonight at home against the Wings. Detroit has all but packed it in for this season and with 2.68 goals for at home and 2.54 goals against at home for Edmonton, getting at least a 3-2 game shouldn't be out of the question.
