Pittsburgh @ Vancouver NHL Preview

My Team's Next MatchVancouver Canucks

Pittsburgh was able to sweep the season series with Edmonton last night despite Sidney Crosby not registering a point as they still try to hunt down the Washington Capitals for 1st place in the Metropolitan division. They enter Vancouver as heavy road favourites and will no doubt receive plenty of support given the mismatch in talent for the two squads.

Pittsburgh as a -208 road favourite tonight is rather intriguing as they are clearly the better team overall, but consistently backing heavy road favourites like that in the NHL can be highly detrimental to a bettor's bankroll. On any given night any NHL team can beat another one, and this situation doesn't exactly help the Penguins as it's the later half of a back-to-back. Even if they able to come away with the victory, Vancouver won't go down without a fight and they'll need to bring their scoring touch to given Pittsburgh everything they can handle. The last five times Pittsburgh has been in this building they've either pushed or gone 'over' the total (3-0-2 O/U), and that's where bettors should direct their attention tonight.

Best NHL Bets Tonight | March 11, 2017

Having the Penguins/Canucks game to sail over the total isn't the only good NHL wager on Saturday's NHL betting card as eight other games this evening, many of which provide ample opportunity to add a unit or two to the bankroll. Here are three other strong plays for tonight's card.

  • Winnipeg Jets ML (-115) - Calgary has won eight in a row, but the Jets are 3-2 SU after allowing 6+ goals this year and the home side is on a 18-5-1 SU run in the last 24 meetings between the two. Calgary's winning streak ends tonight.
  • St Louis Blues ML (-115) - The Blues beat Anaheim last night but playing without rest hasn't hurt this team all year as they are 13-3 SU the last 16 times they've had to do that. With the Islanders wrapping up a long nine-game road trip that's seen them travel across the country and back, you've got to question how much gas this team has left.
  • Washington Capitals ML (-110) - Backing the Caps didn't work out too well the other night, but this team has only lost three in a row once this year and it's tough to envision this being the second time.
