#9 Virginia Tech @ #8 Wisconsin NCAAB Preview
The Wisconsin Badgers have to feel very slighted that the selection committee slotted them as a 8-seed, while other Big 10 rivals that they dominated all year like Minnesota, Michigan, Mayrland, and Northwestern all got seeds equal or better to that. But the Badgers failed to show up in the Big 10 Championship game vs. Michigan on Sunday and sometimes the last impression you make sticks the most. Wisconsin does come into this 8/9 game laying 5.5 points as oddsmakers know it was insulting to see them seeded this high for this basketball tournament.
Typically 8/9 games are lined at -3 or less as they feature two fairly equal teams, but that's not the case in this one and Wisconsin will be out to make a statement and play with a chip on their shoulder for the slight. Virginia Tech was not a good team all year long away from their home floor as they were blown out by multiple teams also in this tournament and the Wisconsin Badgers should be able to do enough to add their name to that list.
WISCONSIN BADGERS -5.5 (-110) BET NOW
NCAAB Betting Picks | First/Second Four
The Wisconsin Badgers won't be out there playing angry on the floor until the evening, so here are a few other strong wagers that should hopefully get your March Madness tournament started off on the right foot and keep you playing with profits the rest of the way.
- UNC-Wilmington/Virginia Over 134.5 (-105) - Wilmington will look to push the pace against a Virginia team that can have trouble scoring, but the Cavaliers will oblige early on, knowing that their defence should be able to lock things down for them late.
- Bucknelll/West Virginia Over 148 (-110) - Bucknell has scored 70+ points in 14 straight games and although it's been against lesser competition than what West Virginia will bring, the Mountaineers and their "havoc" defence will create many extra, and quick possessions with their propensity to gamble. West Virginia is also on a 4-1 O/U run when favoured by at least 13 points.
- Middle Tennessee State -1.5 (-110) - It's not often you see a #12 seed favoured over a #5 seed but that's what we've got here and it's rightly deserved. Like I mentioned earlier with Wisconsin being upset that other Big 10 rivals being ranked ahead of them, Minnesota is one of those teams and will likely pay the price in a matchup that does not suit them well at all.
