Cincinnati Bengals add a key part - lose a key part
Domination has turned to speculation as everyone waits for the Bengals (4-2-1) to show their true stripes. Cincinnati sprinted out of the gate with a 3-0 record as they opened their season with wins over the Ravens, Falcons and Titans by a combined 80-33 final count. Two of those wins came with star WR A.J.Green in the lineup. Since then, with their All Pro receiver hobbled, the Cats have scratched their way to a 1-2-1 record. Green is expected back today but now star running back Giovani Bernard is out. This is not as big a deal as having Green sidelined though as rookie RB Jeremy Hill has proven to be a capable back-up. With Green sidelined, WR Mohamed Sanu stepped up his play so the Bengals can simply shift to a vertical offensive scheme - which is a wise move against the Jaguars defense that ranks 30th in passing yards allowed.
Jacksonville Jaguars face a seventh straight non-winning season
If parity is what the NFL is preaching - the Jaguars (1-7) are not getting the message as Jacksonville is one loss away from their seventh straight non-winning season. Being under-stocked when it comes to talent is one thing - continuously shooting yourself in the foot is another. At home last weekend, Jacksonville had run 44 plays on offense at the three minute mark of the third quarter while the Dolphins had run 24 plays. However, thanks to three Jaguars turnovers, Miami owned a 17-3 lead at that point and then rolled to a 27-13 victory. The NY Jets (-13) are the only NFL team with a worse Takeaway-Giveaway mark than the -10 the Jags are sporting. Though it hasn't been all that good recently - the Bengals D should rule in The Jungle today.
