Australian Open 2020 Odds & Predictions

Australian Open 2020 Odds & Predictions

Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka return to Melbourne to defend their Australian Open titles this month, but both players are not the current favorites to repeat Down Under in the first Grand Slam tennis event of the year.

Djokovic, who has won 16 Grand Slams, tops the betting line in the Australian Open men’s odds, while Serena Williams, who has won 23 Slams in her illustrious career, is the betting favorite on women’s side.

The 108th Open takes place at Melbourne Park from January 20 to February 2. Let’s take a look at the current Australian Open betting odds:

Men’s singles

  • Novak Djokovic +165
  • Rafael Nadal +350
  • Daniil Medvedev +800
  • Roger Federer +800

Women’s singles

  • Serena Williams +500
  • Bianca Andreescu +600
  • Ashleigh Barty +800
  • Naomi Osaka +800

Your odds to win Australian Open 2020 are fixed when you make your bets at top online sites like Bodog and Sports Interaction (SIA), but the betting lines will often change between now and the opening matches.

These trusted betting sources also offer odds and prop bets on all the top players, including some of the Canadian contingent in Bianca Andreescu on the women’s side and Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is ranked 21st in the world, and Milos Raonic, ranked 32nd, on the men’s side.

The Sports Network (TSN) in Canada is where to watch Bianca Andreescu matches, but fans can catch all of the tournament action online with the ESPN app.

Men’s Singles Preview

Djokovic has had a stranglehold on this tournament. The No. 2 men’s player in the world has won six of the last nine Australian Open titles and seven overall. He dominates the hardcourt just as Rafael Nadal is the champion of clay.

Many observers expect the Serbian superstar, who has 16 Grand Slam titles, to surpass Roger Federer’s elite mark of 20 championships in the next few years. But Federer and 19-time winner Nadal won’t easily be pushed aside.

All three tennis giants are at the top of the men’s bracket, but rising stars like Daniil Medvedez are looking to stun the sports world. The 23-year-old Russian reached six consecutive tournament finals last year, including the U.S. Open.

Grand Slam Prediction

An injury-free Djokovic (+165) has shown no signs of slowing down on his best surface. He’s the king of Australia until proven otherwise.

Women’s Singles Preview

Japan’s Naomi Osaka won her first Australian Open title and second Grand Slam last year, but a player hasn’t gone back-to-back on the women’s side since Victoria Azarenka in 2012-13.

Serena Williams is trying to win the race against time and capture her 24th Grand Slam. The 38-year-old superstar will definitely be a tough seed to knock out, especially after winning her first matches of the year in Auckland.

“It’s really good to know that I still have some power left in my arm and my legs and everything. It felt really good,” Williams said during the ASB Classic 2020.

The last person to beat Williams? How about Canadian Bianca Andreescu in the 2019 U.S. Open final. The 19-year-old from Mississauga has surged to No. 4 in the world rankings.

Grand Slam Prediction

Williams (+500) holds the Open Era record for most titles won by a woman in Melbourne (seven) and the new surface suits her power game.
