NL West Betting Odds

The National League West is currently home to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Colorado Rockies, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been the team to beat in the division for the last several years, and have won the most division titles overall. However, the Giants won the most recent World Series title, with their win in 2012. The MLB season is perfect for bettors in Canada. The NHL season kicks off, just as baseball playoffs are winding down. [+]

The season is also over 160 games long, which gives you nightly chances to lay a bet and pick your winners. That many games means the Dodgers will play as many games as the Lakers and Kings combined during the regular season.

Best NL West Division Betting Tips

If you’re betting on the NL West, remember there isn’t a huge difference between the best team in the division and the worst team in the division. So the odds and lines will reflect that.  A division leader in MLB wins 60-70% of their games. Whereas, the last place team typically wins around 30-40% of their games. So, when the first place team plays a 3 or 4-games series with the last place team, the chances are good that the last place team will win at least one game in that series.

You also want to be very aware of the pitching match-ups when betting on the outcome of any game in the NL West, or the over-under score. High-powered offence always gets the spotlight, in baseball and most other sports. But pitching still wins championships in the MLB. Try to bet on a hot pitcher, rather than betting on a hot team.

Also, factor in that home field advantage isn’t a very big deal in baseball, in any division. The MLB’s home teams will usually win a little bit more than half of their games. Even the best teams don’t often win over 60% of their home games, compared to other sports where the top home teams are closer to 80-90%. So betting on the home team in the NL West is never a lock.

Always do your homework, and you can create your own long-term strategy for betting on baseball that can help you win big, all summer long.
