NL East Betting Odds

The National League East is home to the Atlanta Braves, the Miami Marlins, the New York Mets, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals. The Braves have far and away the most division titles and 3 World Series titles. No team has been able to get a stranglehold on the division in recent years, as each team took a turn winning the division title between 2011 to 2015. The Phillies also won the most recent World Series with their victory in 2008. Prior to that -back to 1995- when the Braves won their last world championship. [+]

The Chicago Cubs, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the St. Louis Cardinals are all former members of the NL East, but they are all currently part of the NL Central.

Best NL East Division Betting Tips

If you’re betting on the NL East, remember the best team isn’t that statistically superior to the last place team, from a winning percentage perspective.  A division leader wins 60-70% of their games. At the other end, a last place team wins around 30-40% of their games. The difference between division leaders and cellar-dwellers is usually wider in the NFL, the NBA, and the NHL. So betting on the “underdog” is a lot less risky in baseball, and the lines reflect that.

Pitching match-ups are often the biggest factor in the outcome of a game, or the over-under score. So start with looking the pitching match-up when betting on major league baseball, or the NL East. Million dollar offence is great at selling tickets and grabbing headlines. But pitching still wins championships in the MLB. Place your bets accordingly, and try to ride a pitcher who’s having a massive year.

Bettors should also know that the home field advantage isn’t a very big factor in baseball, in any division. In MLB, home teams win a little bit more than 50% of their games. Even the best teams don’t often have huge home winning streaks, compared to other sports. So betting on the home team isn’t a lock.

The marathon MLB season is perfect for bettors. It’s over 160 games long, which gives you plenty of chances to lay a bet and pick your winners every single night. NHL bettors can easily keep themselves very entertained by betting on baseball in hockey’s off-season.
