Washington vs New York: NHL Eastern Conference Semifinal Game 7 Prediction
New York Rangers: Aim to finish their climb from a 3-1 deficit
Further extending their NHL playoff record, New York has now played in 13 straight one-goal games. Eleven of those contests have played out this year and seven of those have been 2-1 games. This is not a fluke folks. The Blueshirts are a veteran squad who are getting timely goal scoring with their solid combination of size, speed and grit. Most important perhaps – the last line of defense is All-World goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.
Washington Capitals: Upon further review, maybe it wasn’t Bruce Boudreau after all
Hoping to make a huge Capital gain, Washington is looking to play in the NHL Eastern Conference Final for the first time since 1998. Over the last seven years the Capitals have lost in the semifinals three times, were ousted in the quarterfinals three times and missed the playoffs once. Since Boudreau was fired as head coach, he had 12-9 record before getting dumped during the 2011-12 regular season; the Caps are 21-22 in the postseason.
Rangers vs Capitals Call: One has to wonder how much the seeds of doubt have grown now that Washington has lost two straight games where they could have put away the Rangers. New York on the other hand has to be brimming with confidence as they look to send the Capitals to the sidelines for a third straight season. We have been on the Blueshirts Bandwagon since late March and we’re not jumping off anytime soon.
