In a torrid “battle” for the NHL basement, Toronto sits fourth last in the league, the Maple Leafs are three points ahead of Columbus who have sole possession of the cellar. Showing some signs of life, the Buds played decent hockey as they went on a 6-2-0 run heading into and coming out of the holiday break. The winning didn’t last though as Toronto has lost three straight game by a 12-3 margin – including a 3-1 loss to the Blue Jackets on Wednesday. The Leafs are looking to avoid their first four-game losing streak since they dropped six in a row to close out October. With a 16-18-7 overall record – Toronto is eight points out of a Wild Card position in the Eastern Conference.
