Oregon Ducks: Making a case for number one in nation

If Oregon can run the table in the Pac-12, it would put itself in excellent position to take over either the number one or number two spot in the BCS rankings. They can take a step in the right direction with a win over the host Sun Devils on Thursday night. Oregon has won four consecutive games against Arizona St in Tempe and seven straight overall. Oregon can put points on the scoreboard faster than any team in the country, which does not bode well for any opponent. The Ducks have scored no less than 41 points in each of the previous four games against Arizona St.

Arizona St Sun Devils: A win could vault team into national rankings

Arizona St is also 3-0 in the Pac-12 and is atop the South Division. The Sun Devils are facing an uphill battle Thursday night since Oregon has not lost a road game against a Pac-12 team since November 7, 2009. Arizona St does have one glaring statistic on their side as the program has won two consecutive games at home over Top 25 opponents. In their first three conference games of the season, the Sun Devils have outscored their Pac-12 opponents by a whopping total of 115-41. They have defeated the Utah Utes, the Colorado Buffaloes and the California Golden Bears.

As the only game being played featuring a ranked team Thursday night, the Sun Devils host the Ducks in a battle of Pac-12 powerhouses. Oregon is tied atop the North Division while Arizona St leads the South Division in the conference. Both teams have scored a ton of points this season and tend to dominate their opponents so something has to give in this matchup. The Ducks are -8.5 (-110) favorites at online sportsbook Sportsinteraction.com to win a fifth consecutive game in Tempe against the Sun Devils.
