New York vs Miami: Pitching Duel Favors Yankees Over Marlins

New York vs Miami: Pitching Duel Favors Yankees Over Marlins

New York Yankees: Have been tanking after a hot June start

Following a seven game winning streak to open June, New York (34-30) has dropped five of their last six contests including 2-1 and 12-2 loses to the Marlins on the road in Miami. Rollercoaster type stretches have been commonplace for NYY as the Yankees have been through a lot of winning and losing streaks so far this season. RHP Michael Pineda (7-3 ERA 3.74) gets the call for New York here. Pineda loves pitching in the Bronx as he’s  3-1 with a 2.54 ERA, allowing just 11 earned runs over 39 innings pitched, during six starts at Yankee Stadium during the 2015 MLB campaign.

Miami Marlins: May meltdown has given way to a decent start this month

Not without their fair share of hot and cold streaks, Miami (29-37) has put a 10-19 mark in May behind them as the Marlins have posted a 9-6 record half way through June. Despite sitting sixth overall in hits (593) and eighth with a .262 team batting average, Miami has trouble pushing runs across the plate as their 259 runs scored is 19th in the Majors. Fresh off his first MLB win, a Marlins 5-1 victory at home over Colorado last Friday, RHP Jose Urena (1-2 ERA 4.44) heads to the mound for Miami. It will be interesting to see how the rookie responds to the big stage in the Bronx.

New York vs Miami MLB Prediction: Both teams are difficult to figure out as they continuously go from being red hot to ice cold. New York averages 4.53 runs per game compared to the 3.92 RPG plated by Miami. With that in mind, plus liking Pineda over Urena, we’ll back the Bronx Bombers here.
