Minnesota Vikings vs Kansas City Chiefs: NFL Week 6 Prediction
Minnesota Vikings: Open a stretch of five winnable games
Following a solid effort that came up just short, Minnesota lost 23-20 to the Broncos in Denver during NFL Week 4 action, the Vikings are coming off their bye week and should be rested and ready for the battered Chiefs. Minnesota opened their season with a lackluster effort in San Francisco as they lost 20-3 to the lowly 49ers and then posted home victories over Detroit (26-16) and San Diego (31-14) prior to their stumble in Mile High Country two weeks ago. QB Teddy Bridgewater continues to improve in Minnesota while RB Adrian Peterson has moved past his off field issues and is back as one of the most dominating players in the NFL. Following a dismal Week 1 performance (52 total yards) Peterson has posted 412 total yards during his last three games.
Kansas City Chiefs: Already offensively challenged the loss of Jamaal Charles really hurts
Things have gone from bad to worse for Kansas City as the Chiefs are on a four-game losing skid and now face the reality of moving on without super star RB Jamaal Charles. Although he wasn’t exactly lighting up the league, Charles had posted 541 of the Chiefs 1718 total yards and scored five of their ten touchdowns. Almost as important, Charles was always the focus of opposing defenses that will now be able to blitz like crazy and that’s bad news for QB Alex Smith who has already been sacked 21 times this season. After looking decent during the first half of the Chiefs 27-20 season opening win in Houston, Smith has regressed in losses to Denver (31-24) Green Bay (38-28) Cincinnati (36-21) and 18-17 to the lowly Chicago Bears at home last weekend.
Vikings vs Chiefs 2015 NFL Week 6 Prediction: Although neither defense is considered as NFL elite, Minnesota owns a slight edge as they are allowing 357.8 yards per game while Kansas City has given up 382.2 YPG. The Vikings have eight takeaways and just four turnovers while the Chiefs have coughed up the ball seven times and have just four takeaways. Those numbers will be a factor in favor of Minnesota in this contest. Expecting a big day from Adrian Peterson, to go along a solid outing from Teddy Bridgewater and the Minnesota defense, we are backing the Vikings here.
