Cowboys vs Eagles: NFL Week 17 NFC East Championship Battle
Eagles eye an NFL playoff berth despite rocky start
After opening the NFL 2013 season with a 3-5 record many pundits viewed Philadelphia as pretenders rather than contenders in the NFC playoff race. Enter Nick Foles, who took over in Week 9 as the Eagles starting quarterback, and the turnaround began. Foles has been nothing short of spectacular (28 total touchdowns and just two interceptions) as he has led Philly to their 6-1 recent run. RB LeSean McCoy has also been a huge part of the revival as his 2,012 total yards and ten touchdowns have helped the Eagles soar.
Dallas Cowboys: Enter NFL Week 17 action without QB Tony Romo
While not known as a “savior” when it comes to big games – the loss of QB Tony Romo (herniated disk) is a huge blow to the Cowboys playoff aspirations. Though he had an epidural injection on Tuesday, and Dallas management is holding false hope that Romo will actually play on Sunday, expect journeyman QB Kyle Orton to be under center for the Cowboys on Sunday. Orton has made just 15 passes attempts since arriving in Big D back in March 2012 so expect the Cowboys to feature RB DeMarco Murray early and often in this contest.
